One significant aspect of collaborating with Recovery Friendly Workplace is our diverse and impactful training series. We are excited to introduce one of our latest additions, the "Are You Okay?" training. Feedback from current and prospective Recovery Friendly Workplaces revealed that supervisors and managers often hesitate to initiate conversations with employees they believe may be struggling. Concerns such as embarrassing the employee, potential liability issues, and fear of causing the employee to withdraw were frequently mentioned. Our team is here to help you develop the confidence and compassion needed to engage in these crucial, career-changing conversations. Are You Okay? A Discussion on Helping Employees Who Need Help: This seminar is specifically designed for managers and supervisors, equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively respond and intervene when they notice employees struggling with substance use or mental health issues. When performance plans are not effective, yet there remains a desire to retain a valued employee, it may be necessary to explore issues related to substance use, mental health, trauma, or other personal matters. This interactive seminar aims to foster a supportive workplace environment where employees feel safe and valued, and where managers are empowered to act with confidence and compassion. #RhodeIsland #Trauma #MentalHealth #Workplace

You have the power to shape an environment where your team feels safe, supported, and valued. A trauma informed workplace isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to recognising and responding to the impact of trauma, creating a culture of safety, trust, and empowerment. Here are some practical steps for managers who want to foster a trauma informed environment: Cultivate Psychological Safety: Make it clear that it's okay to speak up, make mistakes, and be vulnerable. Encourage open communication where team members feel safe to share their thoughts and concerns without fear of judgment or retaliation. Educate and Train Your Team: Invest in training that helps your team understand trauma and its effects. Equip them with the knowledge and tools to respond empathetically and effectively. The more your team knows, the better they can support one another. Set Clear Boundaries and Expectations: Consistency is key in a trauma informed workplace. Clearly communicate roles, responsibilities, and expectations. This helps create a predictable environment, which can reduce anxiety and build trust. Prioritise Employee Well-Being: Show your team that their well-being matters. Offer resources like mental health days, access to counseling services, or wellness programs. Normalise taking breaks and encourage self-care. Listen and Adjust: Foster a culture of feedback where team members feel heard. Regularly check in with your staff, ask for their input, and be willing to make adjustments based on their needs. Flexibility and responsiveness go a long way in building trust. Lead with Empathy: Remember, leadership is as much about heart as it is about strategy. Approach your team with empathy, understanding that everyone's experiences are unique. A kind word, a listening ear, and a supportive attitude can make all the difference. Creating a trauma informed workplace is about more than just policies - it's about cultivating an environment where every individual feels they belong and can thrive. It's about leaders who are willing to learn, adapt, and put their team's well-being at the forefront of their mission. If you're ready to take these steps and build a trauma informed culture within your organisation, let's connect. Reach out today to start building a safer, more supportive workplace. Your team deserves it! 🌟🤗 #TraumaInformedLeadership #SafeSpacesAtWork #EmpatheticLeadership #SupportYourTeam
