The WHO Country Office in Poland and Polish Ministry of Health have attended a two-day #MentalHealth forum in Warsaw where policymakers have come together to discuss ways to improve mental health services and advance ongoing reforms. The forum will serve as a launchpad for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Intersectoral Roadmap for National Mental Health. It includes policymakers from the health, education, and justice sectors, parliament members, health professionals, academics, civil society organisations and advocacy groups, as well as people with lived experience and their families. In 2018, Poland embarked on mental health reforms, introducing a pilot project for Community Mental Health Centres to help transition from inpatient to community-based care, covering 54% of the adult population with community mental health services. The forum kicked off with an opening speech from Dr Wojciech Konieczny, Secretary of State for the Polish Ministry of Health, followed by Dr Nino Berdzuli, World Health Organization Representative to Poland. The opening was followed by an intersectoral panel discussion on policy priorities by Dr Wojciech Konieczny, Secretary of State for the Polish Ministry of Health, Izabela Zietka, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of National Education, Member of Parliament Marta Golbik and Jolanta Zagajewska, Deputy Director, Department of Enforcement, moderated by Dr Nino Berdzuli. The government of Poland recognises that for truly transformational change to occur, agencies and ministries need to adopt a joined-up approach connecting policy priorities across various sectors so that they can benefit the whole of society. We are particularly glad to see the determination of Polish experts: ✅ to build resilience for good mental health for all young people and prevent mental health problems in schools ✅ to shape further the Polish model of care that will enable children, adolescents and adults with mental health issues access to comprehensive and well-coordinated care and best achieve their recovery goals ✅ to improve and innovate on funding mechanisms for mental health care Nino Berdzuli Ledia Lazeri Jason Maurer Yannish Naik Ionela Petrea Sophie Scott

Some years ago, my former workplace, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, took part in the pilot survey for the Norwegian public health survey: https://lnkd.in/ehGhnknP In order to be allowed to link the survey to register data, we wrote that we would conduct research on three topics. Now the third of the research papers has been published! https://lnkd.in/e4Py7bBm (Mental distress among young adults – gender differences in the role of social support – BMC Public Health) https://lnkd.in/ekcH56uB (A study of socio-economic inequalities in self-reported oral and general health in South-East Norway – Scientific Reports) https://lnkd.in/eWN_r6rr (The association of access to green space with low mental distress and general health in older adults: a cross-sectional study – BMC Geriatrics)

🌐 Announcing the first public release of findings from our new study on an innovative Problematic Interactive Media Use (#PIMU) screener! 🌐 Dr. David Bickham, Lab Research Director, presented the paper, "Development and validation of a screener for problematic interactive media use among adolescents," at the American Public Health Association’s Annual Meeting this week. In his presentation, Dr. Bickham shared findings from our innovative study which introduces and validates a clinical screener focused on assessing functional issues and associated media use behaviors. Unlike traditional tools, our screener moves away from potentially stigmatizing attentional, behavioral, or cognitive deficits. Instead, it provides a balanced approach to understanding how media use impacts adolescent wellbeing, equipping health professionals with a powerful new tool to address this escalating adolescent health concern in a supportive way. This week, we’re rounding out the year with some of our biggest wins! Today, we're spotlighting our work in child health screening. Change Lab, Helix's team of behavioural scientists used their expertise to create an intervention encouraging parents of children aged 3-13 living in Westminster to attend NHS Child Health checks. Through these Health Checks parents also had the chance to sign up their children for the ELSA study on Type 1 diabetes screening. The team partnered with Central London Healthcare, a Primary Care Network as well as with parents of children within this age range to design behavioural science informed text messages inviting parents to book health check appointments for their child. Thanks to this co-designed intervention, NIHR Clinical Research Network North West London have announced that this was the most successful recruitment in Primary Care in the country. We are proud of this achievement as it highlights how applied behavioural science and co-design can have a significant impact on the uptake of healthy behaviours! Reminder on New Research Insights on IPS 🚨 A recent study by Miles Rinaldi Rinaldi Rachel Perkins, Robert Baxter, Paul Dorrington, and Kat Saville that provides valuable insights into the duration, reach, effectiveness, and equity of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) in clinical practice. Key Findings: ⭐46.2% of participants gained or retained employment or were supported in education. ⭐Median time to employment: 132 days (4.3 months). ⭐84.7% did not require time-unlimited in-work support. ⭐No significant differences in outcomes by diagnosis, ethnicity, age, or gender. These findings highlight IPS's effectiveness across diverse populations and challenge the need for extensive support durations. Read the full paper to explore these critical insights. We are so excited to start a new Horizon EU funded research project Support4Resilience - Strengthening resilience and mental wellbeing through the Support4Resilience toolbox for leaders in elderly care. European elderly care faces labor shortages, inadequate staffing, and a disconnect between demand and capacity, leading to stress and burnout among caregivers. Support4Resilience (S4R) aims to address these challenges by creating a research-based Toolbox. This Toolbox will assist healthcare leaders in enhancing the resilience and mental wellbeing of both formal and informal caregivers. https://lnkd.in/d6Rnp-Y8
