"Do the opposite of what AI tells you" I find this advice fundamentally misguided. Why would you go through the trouble of ideating with AI just to throw everything away and start from scratch? Here's my hot take: If AI's not helping you, you're probably not using it right. The key? Stop feeding AI prompts like 'write me an article about "whatever" topic/keyword' and expecting Shakespeare. Instead, use it as your sparring partner (hat tip to Erica Schneider for this brilliant framing). Here's my workflow: I start by doing my research and collecting insights Then I use Claude for sensemaking Finally, I use it for self-editing – a second pair of eyes never hurt anyone (Yes, robotic ones count! ) So, my counter-advice: Don't waste your valuable time trying to outsmart AI. The fact that you have already made this joke yourself does not diminish the humor in it. Many of the clients we speak to ask what they can use AI for. We remind them that they need to think about what needs doing first, then turn to #AI when appropriate -- but we also have a list of things they might want to do with AI as well. (Last I checked, there were about 1,000 things on the longest version of that list.) Because when you get a new tool, you need to use it for what it's good for first in order to get a sense of its value. What if people got hammers as gifts and then used them to hammer at screws?
