In 2019, the swing called "Play for Power" was introduced at train stations in the #Netherlands 🏙️
The swing, created by agency #ID310, generates electricity ⚡️ through the movement of the person swinging.
With this movement, passengers can charge their phones while having fun.
Originally introduced at Utrecht Central, the initiative spread to The Hague station as well.
"𝗪𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴", said Dutch railway spokesperson Geert Koolen.
Train stations in the #Netherlands are bustling transportation hubs, and Utrecht Central is the largest railway station in the country, with:
✔️ 16 platforms 🛤️
✔️ Over 1,000 trains departing daily 🚆
✔️ More than 200,000 passengers passing through each day 🚶♂️
Would you take a swing on that swing? 🎢

Fritz Kuebler, of RPower, will participate in a panel discussion on “Port Electrification Plans” at the 2024 Port of the Future Conference, to be held April 2-4, 2024, in Houston, Texas.
Port electrification serves as a long-term solution for operators in the United States to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce carbon footprints through infrastructure upgrades. Technology is well-developed for implementing the infrastructure needed for port electrification, with many operators already utilizing such solutions as charger and grid upgrades in daily operations. While many port operators have hesitations over the significant lead time and capital investment it takes to implement electrification solutions, regulations at the federal, state, and municipal level may soon mandate the practice.
Fritz Kuebler is the Director of Business Development for RPower, an energy solutions company located at The Woodlands, Texas. He is a retired Coast Guard Officer with an extensive background in port security, resilience, emergency management, and continuity of operations. Now, he has a passion for helping organizations harden their most critical assets, improving their bottom line, and furthering their ESG objectives all while strengthening our collective national security.
The 2024 Port of the Future Conference will host representatives from over 50 ports worldwide. For the list of participating ports access https://lnkd.in/gsKZUcNW .
This year’s event includes tracks on Port Infrastructure 4.0, Developing Ports; Intermodal Connectivity; Decarbonization and Alternate Fuels; Port Energy and Sustainability; Terminal Operations; Enhancing the Port Eco-System; Port Security and Cybersecurity; and other relevant topics.
