Celebrating 4 Years with Castle Group! ☀ This weekend, I hit the 4-year mark with Castle Group, and I can’t help but reflect on the incredible professional and personal growth I’ve experienced during my time here. Castle has remained true to its core values, offering me opportunities for growth through 2 promotions in just 3 years. This journey has shaped me as a leader, a business partner, and an HR professional. One of the most remarkable aspects of my time at Castle is the work-life balance and trust I’ve been given. Just one week into my journey with Castle, my son was born, and now, four years later, my daughter has joined our family. Throughout it all, I have always felt the unwavering support and flexibility to prioritize my family. In the process, feeling a sense of family within the Castle Kingdom. Looking ahead, I’m filled with gratitude for the relationships I’ve built. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of being involved in the hiring of thousands of employees, shaking countless hands, and speaking to even more about what Castle has to offer. Working in HR, especially within Talent Acquisition, is deeply rewarding because of the connections we make and the people we help grow in their careers. "Turning Challenges into Opportunities: My Journey of Resilience and Reinvention" Life often challenges us in ways we never expect, pushing us to grow and adapt. Over the past few years, I’ve been on a journey filled with setbacks, transformation, and newfound opportunities, and I’m excited to share it with my professional community. After 18 years of providing HR support, my contract ended in May 2023. Despite my experience, finding a new role proved challenging. A brief HR specialist role ended due to unforeseen circumstances a stolen work laptop. At the same time, a close family member was diagnosed with a severe illness, and I became their full-time caregiver until their passing. To stay active, I enrolled in a career development program offering SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP preparation. Since I already held the SHRM-CP certification, I considered advancing to SHRM-SCP. However, my passion for cybersecurity led me to pursue and earn the CompTIA Security+ certification. Transitioning into a new field wasn’t easy. Interviews focused on my career change and resume gap; recurring hurdles that left me frustrated but determined to create my own opportunity. I turned to real estate and realized the potential of my unfinished basement. After months of hard work and collaboration, I transformed it into The Dulles Executive Retreat, a serene, executive-style space 5 minutes from Dulles Airport and 10 minutes from Reston Town Center. This journey taught me that setbacks often hide opportunities. What once felt insurmountable became stepping stones to growth. Managing this retreat has been rewarding, but I’m now ready to re-enter the workforce, bringing my expertise in HR and passion for cybersecurity to a new team. That's it garden leave completed. A few insights: 1. I'm not ready to sail into the sunset quite yet 2. Playing more golf definitely doesn't make you better 3. Ironically I got a gardener while on garden leave... 4. Staying positive really does help 5. Reflect but don't stay in the past keep looking forward 6. I know I did a great job, albeit with brilliant talented people 7. Pickleball isn't tennis for old people, well ok I am a little older but still it's a great game 8. It's a tough job market out there (but I refer you to point 4) 9. Networking really does help, reconnect and maintain yours 10. I still miss the people/team I worked with 11. I've had fun! Now as James T. Kirk used to say "...to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before"
