If you're a Design Engineer with only 3 years experience and applying for a 'Head of' role, stop it. Do you understand what it looks like from a recruiters perspective and a companies when you do this? That you aren't reading the advert and you're just happily applying for ANYTHING. It makes you look desperate. And no, you're not shooting your shot, because shooting your shot would mean you have at least 70% of the experience required, and, likely, you don't have 70% of the experience required on the advert. If you do however find yourself relevant and think you can do it, where you can grow and develop too, then do it. Apply! And don't be put off by the number of applicants. Because guess what.. ....it might say 100 applicants, but its only 13! I know, I've seen the number it shows me on my adverts and trust me, it's NEVER right. If you know you are right for the right do the following: - Apply for the role - and make sure you do hit the mark, or at least 70% of it. Get in touch with the recruiter, through the number on the advert, or Linkedin message them, or do both if you can't get hold of them. - A company directly hiring? Get in touch with HR or the Talent Team, and if you don't hear back within 2 days, find the hiring manager on Linkedin and drop them a note to see if they'd be open to having a chat about the role. Now people will say to me - don't do that it's wrong and people don't have time to waste speaking to every applicant. If you KNOW you can do the job and are qualified in terms of being able to carry out the role at least 70%, you aren't wasting anyone's time. But if you're a Design engineer with 2 years experience and applying for a Head of role ..... I'll repeat myself...stop it. #engineering #cleanenergy #battery
