Could craft RTDs ever be as prominent as craft beer in Australia? Over the weekend, I shared how RTD (ready-to-drink) is seeing slow but sure growth overall across the top 10 global markets. Zooming in, Australia is bucking this trend - with a slight decline. The IWSR’s RTD Strategic Study 2024 concludes that the global RTD category is maturing rapidly, and should collectively anticipate sustained, albeit slower, growth. The craft RTD market certainly isn't (yet) anywhere near as big as the craft beer market. So, is this an opportunity to drive growth for distillers and retailers through local brands, refreshing flavours and testing and learning in the market? Or has Billson's popped that grape and musk flavoured bubble for now? I want to know your thoughts in the comments below. And you can read more from Drinks Trade and Cody Profaca below. https://lnkd.in/gfU49zSE #readytodrink #beverages #RTD #australia #craftspirits

📉🍻There’s a notable decline in beer consumption. And the economy is the core driver of this drop in drinking. New data released by Statistics New Zealand shows that the demand for beer has experienced a notable decline in the island country. The volume of alcohol available for consumption for the year ending December 2023 was at a 15 year low. “The data reveals that the total volume of beer available for consumption decreased by 4.4 percent in 2023, following a modest rise of 0.5 percent in 2022," BrewsNews quotes Dylan Firth, Executive Director at Brewers Association. “The Brewers Association of New Zealand note the broader economic factors influencing beer consumption trends are multi-pronged, but a tight economic environment for consumer spending and increased operational costs are a core driver of this.” What does all this mean for craft beer in 2024? And what does this say about the current state of the brewing industry? In this video Raymond from KeyKeg shares his views on the notable shift in consumer preferences and market behaviour. And we can already reveal: it’s not all bad news for brewers. #brewing #brewers #beer #craftbeer #alcohol #KeyKeg #UniKeg

Connecting people, #beer is a fermented beverage brewed with ingredients of agricultural origin. Offering a diversity of choice for every occasion and consumer, including lower and no alcohol options, beer brings people together and enhances conviviality. #Brewers champion moderation as, consumed responsibly, beer can be perfectly compatible with an adult’s balanced lifestyle. With 10,000 breweries creating over 2 million jobs and €40 billion in government revenues across the European Union, beer is not just an integral part of #Europe’s rich culture and heritage, but a major contributor to social, economic, and sustainable development. Ahead of the #EUElections2024, The Brewers of Europe offers the following recommendations to policymakers, to support Europe’s brewing sector and beer value chain, for the benefit of citizens, the environment, and our economies during the upcoming legislative mandate. Yesterday, I was proud to be a part of the launch of SIBA, The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates Independent Beer Report. As a business, we have been supporting SIBA and independent breweries for many years, and I am glad to see overall beer numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels. Craft is back it seems, even if at a more granular level, there are changes in the mix of beer sold. As the report tells, there is still a lot of work to be done! The UK beer industry is a huge part of our culture in the UK, with the role of the local pub often mis-understood and valued. The role of independent brewers is also still undervalued - I wonder how much of our spend in a pub stays local when spent in a local pub, drinking local beer, rather than drinking in a large pub chain, drinking global brands. You can download the report here. Drink local, support your local economy, support your local independent brewer. https://lnkd.in/ecn-8c6M

🍁 Happy Canadian Beer Day! 🍻 Did you know Craft Beer is Canada's second-largest beer segment by volume in the traditional On Premise channel? While its slightly behind Domestic Beer, it still holds a significant share of beer sales. What stands out is that 49% of Craft Beer drinkers prioritise one key factor when choosing their beer: that it’s made by a local company. This top factor shows the strong preference for supporting Canadian-produced brands. At our #BrewingGrowth event last week, we discussed how #beer is deeply rooted in Europe’s history and traditions. It is Europe’s choice, bringing people together. Beer is also a major economic engine in Europe. 🍻 We launched our Economic Impact Report at the event, focusing on showcasing the #brewing industry’s contribution to Europe’s economic landscape. Indeed, more than two million jobs are linked to our sector: from the farmers, and the brewers to the bar staff serving our delicious brews. Our industry contributes over €52 billion in added value—similar to Slovenia's GDP—and generates €40 billion in taxes, including VAT and excise duties. Our great speakers, our Secretary General Julia Leferman, MEP Tomáš Zdechovský and MEP Hannes Heide shared their insights on the vision of the future of the brewing sector, as well as insights from the industry and @EuropeanParliament. The beer sector is not only a major economic player in Europe, but also a powerful force in sustainability, innovation and responsibility. Brewers are well known for their circular economy initiatives: they use energy-efficient technologies, invest in circular economy principles and reduce waste across the board. And brewers promote moderation, not only by making low and non-alcoholic drinks but with initiatives like the European Beer Pledge, to support responsible drinking. The event was also a great opportunity for people to come together: united by a shared passion for beer, they enjoyed the evening with friends. The event served as a crucial reminder: we need supportive policies from the EU decision-makers to keep the brewing sector flourishing so we can boost Europe’s #competitivness together. Its pretty untidy TBH. I'm not sure why the govt isn't repealing a taxation law to ease the cost of living, giving small businesses a leg up isn't in the vocabulary. The $300.00 handout/rebate on electricity is going straight to electricity providers (I've donated ours to a great little non-forprofit feeding families and people doing it hard). If our elected types cant repeal a law (for whatever reason, those political pensions are crucial ay Jackie 😉 ), how about reducing excise? Immediate impact. .50c trains and busses are good up until an election is over.
Folks, if your'e are going to purchase beers or spirits. Ask them who is an independent. Only your/our support your independent brewers and distillers can keep the industry alive.... The Duopoly is a battle for survival for independents. Wet Canteen Bottling Company is a staunch follower and supporter of Australian business. Kellys on Kings in Newtown, NSW. Is a great example of stranding up to cheaply offered beers from internationals. Mark Henneberry Bryan R. Greg D. Trent McGilchrist https://lnkd.in/gRXGBYsF
