And just like that, I’ve logged out for the last time… After nine years working on Zephr, Friday was my last day. It’s been a wild ride. The wide-eyed 23 year old who started all those years ago, wasn’t expecting the journey I’ve been on since. Back then we didn’t have a name. We just called it ‘the product’. Since then we’ve been through new versions, new names, new companies, and I’ve had a squiggly line of roles covering customer success, product marketing, learning & development, and product strategy - plus written hundreds of pages of documentation. What was a team of 5, became a team of 100+, and after being successfully acquired, we joined Zuora and became part of a team of 1000+. I could go on about all the lessons I’ve learned along the way, but if I could boil it down to one thing, it is the importance of the people you surround yourself with. I truly do not believe we would have achieved the success that we did without the powerhouse of intelligent, inspiring, hard-working, honest, and collaborative people in our team. My favourite whakataukī goes ‘He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata. He tāngata. He tāngata.’ It translates to: ‘What is the most important thing in the world? It is people. It is people. It is people.’ Everyone I worked with over these past nine years is proof of that saying holding true, and I'm grateful and honoured to have worked alongside them all, and to call so many of them friends. Today I kickstart two months of relaxation, with something exciting lined up for the New Year. The change of pace is going to be new for me, and I’m not sure I’ll sit still for long, so if you have an exciting problem you want an extra pair of eyes on between now and then - or just want to chat - let me know!
