The ABC recently reported: A spokesperson for the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action says all of the commission's "powerline-related recommendations are now fully addressed and complete". https://lnkd.in/gTmUEtYV I call the spokesperson from Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Defendant #1 The royal commission itself stated in its summary: - "The Commission views protection of human life and the safety of communities as the highest priority for bushfire policy and directed its efforts accordingly. This priority guided the Commission in its analysis, the collection of evidence, its reports and the formulation of its recommendations. The recommendations further reflect the Commission’s recognition that individuals, fire agencies and Commonwealth, State and local governments share responsibility for preparing for fire and improving people’s safety" https://lnkd.in/grc7TXZC It's beholden upon utilities, regulators and governments at all levels to do their bit "as far as practicable" This is far from "addressed" or "complete" Energy Safe Victoria
If not now, when? Our Australia-made and proven EFD Firesafe system has been successfully implemented in the US and Canada, but not yet in Australia. Our pre-budget submission to the Australian Government aims to roll out this system for community safety against powerline fires across the country. The media release has been broadcasted in 138 news items across ABC TV and radios, magazines in Australia, with a total reach of 9.87 million. Full credit to Will Wright Let's hope for a positive response from the government. #australiangovernment #AER #communitysafety #EFD

Better early warning systems are one factor in the decrease in fatalities and injuries during hazardous events. This funding can improve systems in communities around the U.S., especially in rural areas.
$40M federal funding is now available for Next Generation Warning System grants. These funds help make public TV/radio stations, especially those covering rural/underserved communities, build local capacity to withstand tomorrow’s hazards by upgrading to the latest broadcast technology standards for emergency alerts.

Attention broadcasters! The FCC is hosting a voluntary DIRS drill from June 10-12 to test emergency reporting systems. While there's talk of mandatory updates, many argue the current voluntary system is effective. Join the drill to help optimize disaster response! #Broadcasting #FCCDrill #EmergencyPreparedness
The Commission soldiers on.
