CARBON CAPTURE PILOT LAUNCHES AT ILLINOIS COAL PLANT One of the world's largest carbon capture pilot projects has begun operations at City Water, Light & Power's Dallman 4 coal-fired power plant in Springfield, Illinois. The $80 million initiative, led by the Prairie Research Institute and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) aims to capture 200 tonnes of CO2 daily using a 10 MW system. The project utilizes Linde-BASF's advanced amine-based post-combustion capture technology, designed to remove over 90% of CO2 emissions from treated flue gas. As the project progresses through 2026, researchers and industry experts will closely monitor its performance and efficiency.
