At day 1️⃣ of Week of Innovative Regions in Europe 2024, ERRIN Director Pirita Lindholm moderated a session on how synergies between #CohesionPolicy and #HorizonEurope funding can drive innovation and address the #InnovationDivide across European regions. Key takeaways from the discussions with Magda De Carli, DG RTD, Aistė Vilkanauskytė, RIMA, Hálová Perglová Táňa, ERA Forum and Lukas Palko, Masaryk University: 💡 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 🔹𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Synergies need to start with policy and coordination of policy objectives – funding is not everything  🔹𝗥𝗜𝗠𝗔’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The RIMA group has strengthened links between Managing Authorities and R&I Ministries, bridging the R&I and cohesion “worlds”  🔹 𝗖𝘇𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: RIMA has deepened collaboration between ministries and various stakeholders, ensuring synergies that work 🔹 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵: Both commitment and the right mind set are needed 🔍  𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱  🔹𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 s𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀: They should be considered beyond R&I and cohesion policy, taking an integrated approach on this in the next Multiannual Financial Framework #MFF  🔹 𝗔 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: For impactful outcomes, it’s crucial to incorporate regional ecosystems within the RIMA framework. As always, TIA (Transportation Intermediaries Association) put on an excellent show at the Capital Ideas Conference. Though brief, last week was an impressive showcase of what our industry is working on and where we stand today.   It was also great to see our clients and partners, friends, potential prospects, hear new ideas, and explore new technology coming to the market.   Nevertheless, a few things stood out:   1. Relationships matter. This isn't a new idea, but its importance was highly evident at the conference.   2. As we and others solve smaller problems in the industry, the challenges faced by companies are growing more complex. It's becoming increasingly critical for companies to partner with top-tier, knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about technology and understand the complexities of the business problems they are facing today.   3. Transparency and values are paramount. Be open with your customers, partners, and the industry about the good, the bad, and the ugly. It will all come to light eventually.   On a separate note, a shoutout to Cargo Chief for inviting me to their panel. It was a pleasure discussing vendor partnership considerations with Chris Arredondo, Greg Finnerty, and Dan Hellmann, CTB.
