Assistant Minister the Hon Tim Ayres delivers on a Future Made in Australia. He mentioned the two big challenges: 1) climate and energy, and 2) government engaging ALL leaders in our national interests. Including engagement in our innovation policy. He said, we need to use all the strengths we have. He then went on to say how Australia is blessed to have all critical minerals and wind resources above ground. And that these things are our future comparative advantage. #NIPF2024 #futuremadeinaustralia #innovationpolicy

“Canada continues to pursue its climate policy in a vacuum, ignoring the big picture of global emissions. This places at risk our international interests, tens of thousands of good paying jobs and important progress on reconciliation. Canada’s international allies are seeking our energy resources to enable them to displace higher emitting fuels and to support their security. This policy will act as a barrier to this and to the investment attraction required for ongoing environmental innovation.” – Shannon A Joseph, Chair of Energy for a Secure Future, provides a statement on federal oil and gas emissions cap announcement. We have a huge disconnect in Ottawa again. Where do taxes come from that the government receives today? Businesses and individuals in the many firms including fuel tax, carbon tax, corporate and income tax from direct and indirect energy jobs across this country. The national GDP and export trade would suffer severely if we get out of the oil and gas industry. If you are going to reduce one side of the equation, you need to do the same on the other side or the scale does not balance. #canadianenergy #canadianlng #canadiannaturalgas #lloydminsterstrong

It was disappointing to hear a federal Minister say: "Whatever happens to production, emissions will go down." It matters a lot what happens to production for our country as whole, for particular regions like Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, for Indigenous nations who are owners in energy assets, and for our international allies who are seeking partners in #energysecurity and #emissions reduction. Success on the big environmental picture requires Canadian #LNG displacing higher emitting fuels globally. The United States reduced their emissions by over 900MT converting from coal to natural gas, that is more than all of Canada's emissions. We could deliver more of that if we made it a priority. #energy4people #energysecurity #globalemissions
