This may be of interest to those of you involved in Water and Maritime issues: The EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology has announced the creation of a new Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the field of water, marine and maritime sectors and ecosystems. The aim is, i.a., to tackle water scarcity, droughts, floods, and marine and freshwater degradation, strengthen the blue economy and Europe’s competitiveness. The Call for Proposals for the new KIC will be published at the beginning of 2025 and the designated EIT KIC will be launched in 2026. https://lnkd.in/eeMGnG2R

As the Government continues its agenda of planning reform, it is worth bearing in mind that getting Britain building again goes beyond the planning system. Last week, we were joined by Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, who made the point that the overall viability of a project is ultimately what affects what does and does not get built. The cost of financing, material costs and skills shortage all contribute to higher risk and lower margins on construction projects. The Government will need to work closely with industry to address these challenges if the nation is to successfully deliver new homes, roads, train-lines and sustainable energy. Publication Alert: Traffic safety is an ongoing concern in developing countries. Our recently published research in Taylor and Francis, Transportation Planning and Technology (SCIE), investigates the impact of different assumed reaction time on the outcome of the observed conflicts in the unsignalized intersections in mixed traffic conditions. The findings show that the reaction time signficantly affects the conflict nature. The research also finds the ideal reaction time to be assusmed for the traffic safety assessment. I’ve read that the #NorthlandExpressway is expected to significantly impact the region by boosting the GDP by $1.2 billion a year, according to a report.
