Wow, what a week! Now, during my train ride towards Paris I look back on a great experience. It was the most densely packed week of 2024, although it didn't feel so. Here's the high level overview of what happened: 🗓️ April 15 marked the beginning of Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) and I met with friends and colleagues from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, VTT, A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research's IHPC and supported us throughout the week. At the center was the virtual watch tower / VWT, the cargo owner-driven and terminal-centric project for improves disruption and carbon footprint management. On Monday, we detailed out the plan for the next 12 months. 🗓️ April 16, we showcased the VWT solution at the PSA headquarters. Except one little glitch - it was live - it worked out well and we had useful responses from the invitees, which for example included the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA). The solution could also be seen at the A*STAR booth at SMW. Also, RISE, VTT, and A*STAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Residence of the Ambassador of Sweden to Singapore April 17. 🗓️ April 17, a group of members of the The European Freight and Logistics Leaders' Forum (F&L) gathered at H-FARM in Treviso, Italy. As Ambassador F&L, I was very pleased to listen to explanations of companies like Procter & Gamble and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to learn more about their amazing change initiatives and innovation. The message was clear. Change in the supply chain industry will not only come but has already arrived. The sector needs to respond. 🗓️ April 18, a group of logistics experts and practitioners met in a small town near Weimar, Germany for an informal dinner conversation about the state of the logistics market in Germany. The situation is not easy and there is need for Germany to find its way back to a stronger economic growth path. 🗓️ April 19: Gipfel der Logistikweisen took place in Freyburg. We discussed economic and political challenges shaping the German logistics industry with digitalization and talent high on the agenda. This time, we intensely discussed sustainability regulation to find ways to avoid that this necessary exercise does not become a bureaucratic monster but a driver of positive change. Christian Kille and Markus Meissner - Thanks for keeping us going over so many years. 🗓️ April 20: A team of Geopost veterans met in Frankfurt. It felt like yesterday. It was that team that created Europe's largest ground parcel network on the back of the DPD platform. GeoPost is an awesome success story and we are proud that we have been at its origin. "Hamburg shows: ridepooling can enhance the overall public transport system by adding a component that makes it more attractive.” MOIA Director of Business Development Rainer Becker discussed with Martin Bill, Staatsrat BVM Hamburg, Raimund Brodehl, Managing Director hvv, and Cornelius Kiermasch, Head of Shared Mobility at Deutsche Bahn Connect, on the topic of ‘Best practices from Hamburg: Integrated everyday mobility – the plans of the city of Hamburg' at the international trade fair for transport technology InnoTrans.   Here are three takeaways: ➡️ Ridepooling can be an addition to the public transit network that encourages more people to join the overall system as it adds a component of comfort, convenience, and safety. ➡️ The public transport system can only be successful in jointly addressing mobility needs. ➡️ Digitization of the overall system is needed to make it easy to use and will be the key for more people to use public transport in their daily life.  #InnoTrans2024

Consid Receives Major Recognition in Germany! 🇩🇪 During a press conference in Hamburg, the city's economic development and successes in attracting new businesses, especially from Scandinavia, were discussed. Among the companies establishing themselves, Consid was highlighted as an important example. – Our goal is to attract highly innovative companies with high value-creating potential that can also create a significant number of new jobs in Hamburg. Consid has a sustainable and strong business model that fits our strategy, says Rolf Strittmatter, CEO of Hamburg Invest, the city's economic development agency. Consid expanded to Hamburg in November 2022, and since then, the company has seen significant success, securing several major framework agreements. So far, Consid has created about 40 new jobs in Hamburg, with more planned for the coming year. – Hamburg is the economic center of Northern Europe. 🚆 Berlin, Berlin… Is this really my 11th InnoTrans 😮? Believe it or not: it is! I was getting there in the year 2000 for the first time and now I will be back again next week. What are the take aways from such a long journey? 🔎 Couriosity: I never expected myself being interested in rail 🚃 at all. Today I know it is a very interesting industry and has so much more to offer when looking behind the scenes. 🏃♀️ Consistency: Being involved in a topic for so many years brings many benefits - for example to understand the bigger picture of the industry, knowing the major players and building up a strong network over time. 💡 Innovation: We brought digital innovations to the fair from day one and evolved many different possibilities over the years - always to the benefit of our customers. 🙌 Relations: Longterm relationships are priceless as they are the basis for a real trustworthy cooperation and finally a great result. 🌟 Fun: Thinking of all the memories and experiences we had with so many different people from all over the world - the week in Berlin was always something special and despite the hard work a lot of fun!
