We have posted some of the Ramblers work in our feed before. The organisation's goal is to remove barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces as well as preserving and improving hundreds of thousands of miles of well-loved paths, tracks and trails across England, Scotland, and Wales.
They are very good in what they do. We have seen their work in using walking groups to help people with mental health challenges, the promotion and development of new railway/city walks and warning of the danger of losing public access to established local routes.
Now that a general election has been called in the UK the Ramblers are wasting no time in raising awareness of the opportunities this presents by promoting a campaign to contact their local MPs or sign a pledge to bring about an Access to Nature Bill.
In such a bill they want the government to develop the following
1. Create access to nature close to home-better opportunities to access nature will bring lasting national benefits.
2. Unleash the potential of the paths and access network-introduce statutory quality standards for public rights of way
3. Build a plan for the future-access to nature should be available to all within 15 mins of cities.
We cannot fault the drive and focus of the Ramblers, an effective campaign and good result will have implications far beyond the shores of the UK. They are leaders in what they do. We wish all Ramblers the best of luck.
