As we bid farewell to 2024 and prepare to welcome 2025, I feel almost obliged to reflect on a year that has been truly transformative. On a personal level, 2024 has been a journey of immense growth, one that tested and further strengthened my resilience. From a business perspective, it has been nothing short of remarkable: - The ConnectX team delivered over 20 successful go-lives, tackling some of the most innovative projects. - We developed unique toolsets for MuleSoft that distinguish us in the industry. - We established a talented team of developers and architects under the exceptional leadership of Krishnan Ramaswamy and launched an offshore arm. - We have Robert Crutchley as our head of Sales and partnerships But that’s not all. We also launched Datamiles, a venture focused on data and AI services, led by the brilliant Geetu Sandhu. Datamiles is built to address the challenges businesses face when navigating AI use cases. To enhance our offerings, we’ve partnered with Snowflake, ensuring our Salesforce and MuleSoft expertise is complemented by cutting-edge data solutions. So, what’s next in 2025? That’s a story for the next post. What I can promise is that this rocket ship is just getting started—stay tuned for some truly exciting announcements!

The Marc Benioff 'Metadata' Earnings Call - Feb 28, 2024 I've been in the Salesforce ecosystem as a partner for 11 years and I listen to or read every quarterly earnings call transcript to pick up nuggets to grow the businesses I've helped build. When I read this week's earnings call transcript I was STARTLED. In 11 years, I swear I had never heard Marc Benioff once utter the word 'metadata' in a single call. Yet, in this call, it seemed like it was all he wanted to talk about. I was so surprised that I decided to check. I went back through the earnings call transcripts from 2018-2024 and there it was....5... Prior to the call on Thursday, Marc had mentioned the word 'metadata'... 5 times in total. Twice in Q4 2023 and three times in Q2 2024. Only two other mentions of 'metadata' have ever been made in a call, in Q1 2024, by the Chief Engineering Officer. Out of curiosity I checked AI as well. He has mentioned the word AI many times in every call going back to 2018 (due to the launch of Einstein), though it is getting more frequent. E.g., AI was mentioned 9 times in the Q2 2019 call and >95 times this week. But this 'metadata' thing is a HUGE outlier. 27 times in one call? 26 of them from Marc (one from an analyst). In over 6 years it had not been mentioned once?? When, on average, it has been mentioned just over one time per call for the last year? So, the real question is, why? Why is Benioff so interested in metadata now? It's as if someone in his inner circle has gotten in his ear and let him know how important 'metadata' is to businesses. Clearly, the influence of recent mishaps where companies are being held liable for AI hallucinations plays a role as it strengthens Salesforce's position. Big day in the Salesforce ecosystem today, with the Mothership set to release their First Fiscal Quarter Earnings Report, and many eyes are fixed on the growth of the Data Cloud product, with many leading experts expecting to see strong growth due to "Salesforce's ability to enhance its product via AI" (Goldman Sachs). After growing nearly 90% YoY in the fourth quarter of last year to almost $400million, Brian Millham suggested in February this is a strong indicator of customers' ambition to make AI a central part of their transformation agenda. The Salesforce landscape has much to be excited about, and it will be interesting to see how these figures compare to market expectations.
