Running for over 30 years, PACTO uses its strong local connections with community transport providers to offer journeys helping to combat social and rural isolation across Pembrokeshire and showcase the impact that community-led solutions can deliver for disabled people. The article discusses the overlap between community organizing and the #cooperative movement, particularly in relation to the 7th cooperative principle of "concern for community". Real change can happen only when the when a community comes together to work towards a common goal. At Shelter Associates, Community Mobilization is one of the pillars of our success. In Episode 2 of our series on how we gain the support of the community and build #ambassadors of #change through our Community Mobilization initiatives, Jayda Khan, Community Worker at Shelter Associates talks about the concept of Corner Meetings. Typically, Corner Meetings, are casual encounters with members of the slum community and can take place at tea stalls or kirana stores etc. They play a key role in reinforcing the message, discussions and actions to be taken. In addition, these meetings cement our relationship with the community. #change #changemakers #mobilization #focusgroup #cornermeetings #communitymobilization

An opportunity to feed into a study on opportunities for #CommunityWealthBuilding (CWB) in the Highlands and Islands. This is basically about bringing 'wealth' back into communities to benefit local people. Highlands and Islands Enterprise have commissioned this research to collate the experiences and views of community groups on: 🔹 Motivations and drivers: What inspires your work? 🔹 Volunteer and employee contributions: The role of people in your organisation. 🔹 Engagement with the local community: How you connect with those you serve. 🔹 Language, culture, and heritage: The importance of preserving local identity. 🔹 Assets and income sources: Understanding your resources. 🔹 Aspirations and support needs: What’s next for your community? Please fill this out yourself if you are part of a community group based in the Highlands and Islands Regional Economic Partnership area (note this includes Arran and Cumbrae), or share this with your networks. The survey is open until the end of October so still plenty of time to feed into it. #Scotland #Community #EconomicDevelopment #WealthBuilding #Survey #Engagement #Highlands #Islands #Arran #Cumbrae #CBW
We’re close to hitting 250 responses from community organisations and social enterprises for the Our Place, Our Prosperity survey. That’s fantastic – thanks to everyone who has completed it so far. We’d really like to reach even more! Can you help? If you’re involved in a community project tell us: what keeps you motivated, who are the people who help you, how are you keeping local assets or heritage alive, what stands in the way of achieving your community goals? The survey is open to all community groups, including community councils. Please spread the word with organisations and friends. Every response helps. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ePUfm2Gb #GoPlaces #CommunityDevelopment #CommunityWealth Diffley Partnership
