Update 7.14.2024 - What to say, how to say it… it’s difficult for me to write… Due to extenuating circumstances, we need to cancel the Agile Open House gathering for 2024. What’s next? Direct communication will be sent out to those who submitted interest and committed to the gathering. Expect to receive information regarding another event in the future. Thank you for your understanding and I’ll see everyone at the conference next week!

#MVP… To me this is similar to MoSCoW: everybody knows what the abbreviation stands for, but not too many people really know what MVP is about. By the amount of features I often see stakeholders cram into a so-called MVP, I get the impression that they want to strive for a Maximum Viable Product. Or at least they confuse MVP with MMP, Minimum Marketable Product. The glossary on the Agile Alliance site explains the difference between MVP and MMP in a beautiful and at the same time striking way: with MVP the focus is on Learning, whereas with MMP the focus is on Earning. In other words, an MVP is meant for getting fast #feedback whether an idea is #viable, worth continuing the effort or not. So if you want to validate whether you are right with a product idea, you better not create a full package, because if in the end the conclusion is that no-one is waiting for your brilliant idea, you wasted a lot of money and effort. An MVP is a one off thing, like demo or die. There is no version 2, 3 and so on. Having an MVP does not mean that the product will hit the market in that form. It is just the validation that you can further elaborate on the idea. Gabrielle Benefield who created #Mobius Outcome Delivery, once told about an MVP exercise for meeting room reservations. The outcome of the exercise was not to have a spreadsheet where people could register their time slot for a meeting. No, the bare minimum to validate their idea, was to stick a paper on the door of the meeting room with the message “reserved by <name> from <start time> to <end time>” (or something along the lines). Better keep that idea in mind the next time you need to define an MVP… This is card number 22 of the #Agile Bullshit cards, co-created with Noel Warnell and Michele D'Urzo. Yes, the cards are still for sale, either in Dutch or in English.

Big Picture EventStorming can be used to explore large problem domains and legacy systems - devs and domain experts work together. Design-level EventStorming can be used to refine and split subparts of requirements into small user stories and individual test cases. Watch Oliver Zihler & Alina Liburkina talk about how this can be used within the team as a refinement tool. The result is a more cohesive and shared understanding and communication of the system. Thanks to Daniel Moka for hosting the event. Have you thought what would happen if “Cards Against Humanity” met agile? 🤔 We did, and released a free game inspired on it. 🤪 The rules of our little “experiment” are simple: - Roll an agility card - Then select a random “Agile” card - Sit back and watch the unexpected unfold Ready for a laugh? Try “Agile” against agility yourself: https://bit.ly/3UcApWN

Please can we use real, human language in our day to day interactions at work! Specifically, please avoid just referring to ticket numbers automatically generated from the tool you use. This video is inspired by Card 45 of the Agile BS card deck. #agilebs
