Did you know that there are other things you can negotiate besides salary? The truth is that you have the most bargaining power when you have been offered a position. The organization has decided you'd be a great fit for the position and they are expecting you to negotiate your offer. Sometimes we'll hear things like "the salary is firm" which means there's no wiggle room on salary negotiation. HOWEVER, this does not mean you should not negotiate anything. Consider what's important to you and what you want/need to make this job ideal for you. Would you be happier with more vacation time? A title change? Remote work options? By choosing to negotiate, you are signaling to the employer that you value yourself enough to ask for what you need. #salarynegotiation #careercoaching #jobsearching

#JOBTIPTUESDAY 💼🔍 Negotiating Salary 🔍💼 Salary negotiation can be scary. But what’s even scarier is not doing it. If you’re going to get the pay you deserve, it’s crucial to know the going rate for your position in your specific industry and in your geographic area. Most hiring managers start the negotiation by asking about your current salary. Give your current salary (including benefits, bonuses, etc) then quickly move the conversation along to explain the number you’re looking for, focusing on explaining your new skills or responsibilities, your market value, and how you’re looking to grow. #JobSearchTips #CareerGrowth #jobhunt #employment #jobopportunity #recruitmentagency #staffingagency #ExpressProsFourways #FourwaysAlways #StaffingExperts #PuttingAMillionPeopleToWork

Because it is one part of the recruitment process that so few applicants will actually do and I really want people to know that you can negotiate just about everything! 😎 Those who do negotiate, will often come to me frustrated that the potential employer will not budge on their salary offer. Trust me, there almost always is, especially if you want to negotiate non-salary perks! So if you find yourself in this situation, consider the following areas to focus your negotiation efforts: - Vacation Days - Flexible Hours - Signing Bonus - Improved Job Title - Retirement Savings Matching/Stock Options - Working from Home - Relocation Expenses - Professional Development Allowance - Health & Wellness Allowance - Transportation Allowance - Phone Allowance - Child Care - Guaranteed Severance Package You never know unless you ask so don’t be afraid to ask!!! - Follow me below 👇🏻 for TIPS to land your DREAM JOB - #hiringandpromotion #jobseekers #jobinterviews

You got the offer. But how do you negotiate salary? Pro tip: Never underestimate the power of a well-timed pause. Taking a moment to say, "I'll need to think about this offer," shifts the dynamic. It's like holding a mirror up to the offer, reflecting its value and your worth back at the employer. This pause, this space you create, isn't just silence. It's a statement. It says, "I value myself and what I bring to the table." It gives you room to breathe, to assess, and to strategize your next move. Choosing to pause is choosing to take control. It's your reminder that in negotiations, the power can always be balanced – sometimes, all it takes is a moment of quiet reflection.

Salary ranges mean nothing. I used to think that the range for a given role was the end all be all. This thinking caused me to miss job opportunities and get discouraged when negotiating salary. Then one day, I said screw it and asked for more than the range. I knew my value, and I knew that guidelines weren’t concrete. Guess what happened? I got offered more than the range! A human created the salary range of the role you’re applying for. That means a human has the power to make an exception. Next time you see a salary range, keep that in mind. #theintrovertleader

Negotiate more than just a base salary when you get a job offer. There’s no question that the base salary is your primary motivator, and you shouldn’t accept less than you’re worth. But remember that other benefits may be negotiable like a bonus, a stock grant, remote work flexibility, and vacation time. Have you accepted a job offer for slightly less on the base salary after successfully negotiating other components of the job? My 11x thoughts on salary negotiation? 1 - salary ranges differ tremendously based on location, size of company, type of role, industry and whether it is a revenue-generator or cost center 2 - if a recruiter reaches out to you first about a job, ask them the salary range to determine if it is worth putting in any effort (they need candidates) #leverage 3 - if you apply online or reach out to a recruiter for a job, be prepared to give your salary requirements if asked (you need a job) #nogames 4 - when they ask "what are your salary requirements?" they don't want to know what you need to live or what you made in the military They need to know what they have to pay you to do this job 5 - you should figure out the salary range for the roles that interest you before you get into those conversations (they will ask this early in the process before spending time on you) 6 - some companies like HireMilitary list the salary range on every job requisition, so you can go there for a starting point 7 - some states require the salary range be posted, so you can check the same job there and get a general idea (not factoring in locality) Colorado, Maryland, Connecticut, Nevada, Rhode Island, Washington, California and New York 8 - but the best way to figure out the range is ask mentors THAT HAVE BEEN IN THAT ROLE what you should be asking for Ask 3-5 people that have held that job and you should get a tight shot group like zeroing your weapon 9 - if you give them a range, don't get upset if your offer comes in at the lower or mid-point of that range (you said you would do it for that) 10 - companies expect you to make a counter-offer Just back it up with data and don't "move the goal posts" Meaning if you ask for $90k-$100k and they offer you $100k, don't ask for $110k unless the job was significantly different than advertised Instead ask for a signing bonus, additional vacation days, etc. 11 - it should be called "total compensation negotiation" instead of salary negotiation Don't forget you can negotiate for parking, extra vacation days, hybrid/telework options, cell phone, stock options, bonus structures, incentive comp plans, medical coverage and so much more #quinnsights What would be 12?
