The Ag-Robotics space is gaining speed but impact remains low and if it increases who does the service? Congratulations to Carbon Robotics for their latest 70M $ Series D funding. It is a great achievement and bringing robotics into another vertical. At the same time, we have to be realistic - 70M $ is great for the company but compared to other verticals (say the AI bubble) this would be a series A. If I asked farmers in our region no one ever saw a robot in actual use on a field. So it remains a big promise with little actual wide-spread impact - so far. However Carbon Robotics is not the only player out there and the trend is clear. #Robots are here to stay! Some challenges and concerns from a end-user perspective remains like seen in other industries:  🔜Who is delivering service? 🔜Are the local traditional Ag-dealers in a good position from a know-how perspective? 🔜Will it rather be robotics service companies like ProLog Automation - Marktführer FTS Dienstleistungen who also services Ag-Robots? With WAKU Robotics Care we aim to put anyone in a position to do basic service for a robot. For large-scale widespred use this is what is needed. The startup Beckett co-founded and works at as senior vice president of engineering is building a fleet of robots it says can revolutionize how the world builds solar farms. Rather than spitting out toothpicks or hammering nails, its robots dispense steel rods that solar panels sit on with high precision at a speed no human can match. They run on artificial intelligence software that allows them to work on varied terrain, saving even more time — and money — by reducing the need to grade land. Growers are increasingly investing in automation to combat rising labor costs and workforce shortages. According to a survey by US-based Western Growers Association, around 70% of growers invested in automation in 2022, with an average annual spend of $450,000–$500,000, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. Robotics companies are focusing on activities like weeding, planting, and thinning, with startups such as Stout, Carbon Robotics, and Farmwise already establishing a strong customer base and planning market expansion.
