Back from Global OWASP, and these two topics kept surfacing in training, conversations and talks: 🫢 Verification is the lowest ranked measurement according to OWASP® Foundation SAMM ➡️ which to me means we are in the mode of "set it and forget it" and has been proven does not work in AppSec leading to massive backlogs in vulnerabilities and a false sense of security. Verification is your tooling, your secure reviews and your pen tests--all of these need to inform how and where your focus your risk-based strategy. 🤬 This is not a battle of AppSec vs Engineer or Developer. We should be a unified team which means, when security brings in an appsec product, make sure the users (devs) actually will use it. Better yet, empower your engineering team to chose the tools and build the processes that work for their workflows.
