🌍 Happy World Environment Day!🌱
At Alliance Française de Melbourne, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment. Here’s a look at what we've achieved so far and our exciting plans to become even greener.
Our Achievements
1. Climate Fresk workshops: A few months ago, our team participated in a 3-hour Climate Fresk workshop to understand the causes and consequences of climate change. We discussed actionable steps for both individuals and for our organisation to be more eco-friendly.
We host these workshops regularly at our Pop-Up. Join the 900,000 people worldwide who have participated, sign up for the next workshop on 18 June: https://lnkd.in/gg9rmnR4
2. Daily actions: We're taking small but significant steps like limiting printing, recycling diligently, and opting for green solutions. For instance, all disposable coffee cups have been replaced by reusable ones at our CBD campus.
3. Sustainable commuting: We encourage our team to use public transport, cycle, or walk to work. Did you know that physical exercise improves mental health, concentration, and productivity? It also boosts creativity, team spirit, and reduces stress. Double tick for sustainability and wellbeing!
Our Future Plans
1. New (green) hub: We’re making our new office as sustainable as possible by choosing low-energy options and partnering with sustainable providers.
2. Green finance: Recognizing the power of finance in driving climate impact, we will soon offer our team the chance to join Australian Ethical. This super fund invests in ethically responsible industries, excluding fossil fuels, weapons manufacturing, nuclear, live animal export, and intensive farming.
3. Carbon footprint offset: We're looking to partner with a charity that plants trees and protects Australia’s wildlife, flora, and fauna to offset our carbon footprint.
Together, we can make a difference! Inspire others and share your actions against climate change in the comments 👇
