📺 “The Fight Has Just Begun” General Michael Flynn compares the day after the election to D-Day Plus 1, a critical moment in history that required relentless determination and teamwork to secure victory. 🗨️ “This isn’t just about one person. It’s about a collective effort—leaders, supporters, and every individual playing their part. The real work begins now. We’re in a transition, not a victory lap.” This powerful call to action underscores the importance of perseverance, sacrifice, and unity as the nation enters a pivotal phase. 🎙️ Catch the full conversation on youtube here: https://lnkd.in/eE-Ac2Df #TheRebound #CoachMatt #GeneralMichaelFlynn #LeadershipInAction #TeamworkMatters

We Win, They Lose, with Matthew Kroenig | GoodFellows Hoover Institution 8 Aug 2024 Is a regional war across the Middle East about to erupt? And what to make of a Venezuelan regime that doesn’t honor election results? Matthew Kroenig, Vice President and Senior Director of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and coauthor of the book We Win They Lose: Republican Foreign Policy and the New Cold War, joins Hoover senior fellows John Cochrane and H.R. McMaster to discuss lessons from deterrence (or a lack thereof) past, present, and future. Next, John explains how a market meltdown underscores a fragile world economy, followed by a discussion of two historical milestones: 50 years since Richard Nixon’s resignation (with public trust in government today significantly lower than in Watergate’s heyday); and Herbert Hoover’s 150th birthday (as to his humanitarian pursuits, where would our fellows be without Hoover’s namesake institution?).

I think this Washington's Dream skit, and the first from Bargatze's initial stint hosting SNL, is hysterical. https://lnkd.in/eTP6zZHc But it is also really trenchant given the current climate around DEI and the choices that we are seeing some organizations and leaders make about how they choose to engage with or articulate their vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion. If you are a leader talking about your organization's vision and theory for change and you are not talking about equity, if you gloss over the questions from your BIPOC staff, or put it on the back burner, you look as silly as Nate Bargatze/General Washington here. We can't talk about what we want to achieve, our aspirations, without attending to the very real experiences of all of our people, and how our work strives to create and truly contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. Watch the skit. Laugh, it's comedy gold and the timing is perfect. And then consider how we need to show up as leaders for our message and work to be authentic, empowering, and meaningful.

Deep Dive returns! In this episode we bring back a number of contributors to our recently concluded limited series - After America - and ask if they have hope for American democracy, or if we already past the Rubicon. Can American democracy survive the storm of voter disenfranchisement, misinformation, and rising authoritarianism? This episode promises not just a look at the challenges, but also a glimmer of hope for our democratic future. We explore the perennial struggle to uphold the ideals of equality and the essential role of our political institutions. And, you'll hear insights into how the Republican Party's transformation and Donald Trump's influence pose unique threats to American democracy. Yet, amid these daunting challenges, we find reasons for cautious optimism in the resilience of U.S. institutions and the enduring power of foundational principles like equality and justice. What would another Trump presidency mean for the United States? Through poignant personal stories and global perspectives, we highlight the immediate and structural dangers we face. This episode isn't just a wake-up call; it’s a challenge to protect the future of American democracy. Featuring: Dr. Carol Graham, Dr. Kate Starbird, Dr. Edward Watts, Dr. Alice Marwick, Dr. Tara Grove, Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Sara Benesh, Dr. Benjamin Hett, Dr. Sheri Berman, Dr. Bernard Schlager, Jason van Tatenhove, Dr. Balint Magyar, Stephen Marche #democracy #Authoritarianism #AfterAmerica #Trump #gop #Republicans #MAGA #LiberalDemocracy #america #UnitedStates #Election2024 #vote #disinformation #ChristianNationalism #Militia #Insurrection #Jan6thInsurrection https://lnkd.in/g7t9p8fS

The most broken institutions aren’t the ones we complain about. They’re the ones we can’t see. In a fascinating interview with The Free Press, Peter Thiel posed this question: “Which is the most dysfunctional government agency—the Post Office, DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) or NSA (National Security Agency)?” His answer? The NSA Why? Because its dysfunction is invisible. At the DMV, you see the broken system in action: long lines, inefficiency, people loafing around. But at the NSA, we have no clue what’s happening behind closed doors. Its failures are hidden, making it harder to fix. This crystallised something I’ve been wrestling with: The most dangerous institutional failures hide behind complexity, credentialism, and unverifiable expertise. Take political polling. After Brexit, Trump 2016, and now 2024, pollsters’ response to failure hasn’t been reform—it’s been more complexity, proprietary methods, and opacity. Instead of fixing the system, they’ve made it harder to see what’s broken. Maybe a transparently broken system is better than one that hides its failures behind sophistication. What other institutions are masking dysfunction behind complexity? #Institutions #Democracy #Transparency #Leadership #Innovation https://lnkd.in/g7AVvHgE
