Sunday musing… The first assessment I have my leadership coaching clients take digs into their “origin story”. What makes you who you are? Very revealing as they delve into the “armor” they have put on since their childhood through youth through adulthood. Often, they realize how hard it’s been to keep the inner wonder, that spark, that makes them a great human. Not just a great leader. One of my key goals for them is to leverage that authentic true north self! #authentic #leadership #ceocoach #truenorth #vulnerability. #vistagemvp

✨ Unlock Your Potential with Cultivating Leadership's Conversations at the Edge Course ✨ As a coach, I'm constantly seeking tools and experiences that deepen my ability to support myself and others to grow. Cultivating Leadership's Conversations at the Edge course has been one of those transformative experiences. This course pushed me to explore my own "growing edges"—those moments where we’re called to grow bigger, often when we feel least equipped to handle the challenges at hand. By diving into this work, I’ve not only gained insight into my own growth but also honed my skills in supporting others to better navigate their moments of doubt and uncertainty. For those of us who are dedicated to fostering growth in others, this course is a powerful resource. It helps us and our clients make sense of those pivotal moments when we need to step into something bigger, even when we feel under-resourced. If you're a coach looking to expand your capacity to support others—or simply to grow yourself—I highly recommend Conversations at the Edge, which begins in mid-September! 🌱 📝 Register today! https://lnkd.in/g3AdJkN7 #Coaching #LeadershipDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #ConversationsAtTheEdge #CultivatingLeadership

The one of the greatest gifts my association with Cultivating Leadership has given me is the idea of a growth edge. Becoming aware of these "I just can't!" moments and knowing that I can stretch past them (eventually) is a game changer. Want to have a conversation to help you see these edges? Let me know, and we'll set up a growth edge interview. #adultdevelopment #leadershipdevelopment #coaching

When you hit your limit, what if that was just a new starting point for you in that moment? Listen to this super short, and spot-on video from Jennifer Garvey Berger, defining “growth edge.” Hitting your growth edge doesn’t mean you have to sit this one out. It also does it mean you need to power through like it’s business as usual. Once you recognize your growth edge, you have new choices for how you want to move. You always have choices!

This is the best explanation of a growth edge and why it is essential to know your growth edges to handle what life throws you.

Notice she says "to GROW further than what I can do right now", and not "to GO further" or "to DO more"! The growth element is about learning how to manage the situation, the edge you find yourself confronting, and not necessarily learning how to pack in more and more... It's always a good day when Jennifer Garvey Berger can help nudge and reframe my thinking! #learning #development #growthedge

What is a growth edge? I agree with Jennifer Garvey Berger that a growth edge is when we face those moments of "I cannot handle this; it is too much"... AND I would add that it isn't always about growing into something bigger. A growth edge can also be: 1. Translating Back - It can also involve learning how to translate back. Sometimes, my complexity of thinking is more expansive than that of others. It doesn’t make it ‘better,’ just different. In these situations, my growth edge is about understanding how others see the situation and providing my perspective in a way that is generative—creating solutions rather than confusion. 2. Feeling Stuck - Despite my best efforts, I struggle to achieve successful outcomes, whether in tasks or relationships. I read books, try different approaches, seek feedback, yet I can’t seem to make progress. 3. Collaboration is Difficult - The way I frame a situation or problem is not resonating with others, and I don’t understand how they see it. Our exchanges are draining rather than energizing. How would you define a growth edge? What have been your experiences? Experiencing one of these situations yourself? At Vertical Leadership Consulting, we focus on growing the leader in you. Our approach is formative - we assess how you think and lead, identifying your unique strengths and challenges and then inviting you on a developmental journey. Ready for your own developmental journey? Schedule time with me to discuss! https://lnkd.in/eigtwztq #GrowthEdge #ComplexThinking
