💡 COACHING IN THE MOMENT is a tactic I truly believe in and have found incredibly beneficial over the years! Children learn best from experiences, through both success and failure! Working with children in schools as well as through coaching has taught me that these moments should be jumped upon and utilised. Children, especially when playing football, do not want to be stopped every thirty seconds to be shouted instructions or tactics at. Stopping everyone to make a point that realistically, only benefits one or two children at that time is a huge mistake and can negatively impact the flow of your session. Instead, I have discovered that letting children express themselves and simply observing a scenario play out, even if it means making a mistake will benefit the child ten-fold. The trick is to jump in with that child 1-1 and quickly evaluate or explain the cause and effect of what they did before sending them off to enjoy themselves again with some praise! https://lnkd.in/dNrajtE3

My View On Coaching: The person is always more important than the player. Developing better people should be your #1 commitment. Playing football has a very short life span and helping young people understand Development, Relationship’s With Other People/Players. Also the importance of their Education are what last forever off the pitch. Seeing young kids in your environment learn, grow, develop & become better people should be what all coaches strive for. Kids don’t care where you coached, who you coached or how many badges you have. They just want a coach who truly cares about them & knows how to make learning the game a lot of fun. They absorb more & it’s so much more meaningful when they’re enjoying it than when they aren’t. They will only remember you as a coach for how you treated them and what you do and who you are as a person is far more important than wins & losses. You can change kids lives for the better & help instill a sense of self-belief in those who lack it. Football gives you the opportunity to seriously impact lives. The impact you can have on another human being is lifelong! No matter what you do in this game or life it’s about people first!
