The correlation between the Pro Audio industry (equipment and software vendors) and audio consumption (streaming) shouldn’t be surprising. If it’s easier to create, should it not be easier to consume? Innovation in pro audio technology, such as user-friendly DAWs and powerful plugins, and now AI generated audio have made audio production accessible to most people and devices. This ease of creation fuels the vast amount of content available on streaming platforms, making it simpler for artists to produce and distribute their work. As more high-quality content becomes accessible, opportunity for more seamless, on-demand audio experiences increases. Streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music thrive on this influx, offering a diverse library of music and podcasts to millions of listeners worldwide. Feel how you want about royalties, business models, etc, they get to make their call on their platforms. The cycle is clear: the more efficient the creation process, the richer the content pool, and the greater the demand for consumption. This symbiotic relationship continues to drive both industries somewhat forward, but with the streaming pie only being able to split so many ways, independent creators will have to be creative in order to secure the livable wage from their audio assets. #ProAudio #Streaming #MusicProduction #AudioTech #Innovation #DAWs #ContentCreation #TechTrends #Audio

YouTube could soon become the biggest platform for 3D audio - bigger than Apple Music, Amazon and Tidal combined! Although YouTube is not currently perceived as the place to go for audio, there is already more spatial sound potential under the hood than many suspect: Since 2016, the platform has supported Ambisonics for 360-degree videos and offers a variety of binaural content that garners millions of views, such as binaural recordings, ASMR and 8D audio. In the future, however, YouTube could offer much more, especially with the introduction of IAMF - an uprising format (Immersive Audio Models and Formats) that should allow any content creator to easily produce 3D audio content. I think this could be the Dolby Atmos killer for the masses. YouTube may be on the brink of establishing itself as a leading force in 3D audio, with a potential offering that is more comprehensive than most streaming services combined. Provided, of course, that its content creators also jump on the bandwagon - but there is a lot of production volume behind the platform. My recommendation: keep an eye on it, the name IAMF will certainly be revised and then have a completely different effect as soon as it is made accessible. Have you already experienced 3D audio content on YouTube or could you imagine more? #YouTube #ImmersiveAudio #3DAudio #SpatialAudio

#Spotify #CEO Teases Early Stages of Hi-Fi Audio Rollout. #Spotify #CEODanielEk says the streaming service is still in the “early days” of its plans to bring hi-fi support to the platform. During the company’s recent earnings call, Ek detailed an upcoming deluxe tier that is set to enhance the user experience. Initially announced in 2021, the #Spotify HiFi tier promised a “CD-quality, lossless audio format.” As of mid-2024, this tier has yet to launch. Ek mentioned that the new tier would likely be priced around $17 or $18, offering users all the benefits of the current premium tier, but with significantly higher quality and additional features not yet disclosed. This pricing aligns with #Bloombergs report from last month, indicating that the premium plan will cost at least $5 more per month. Alongside the anticipated hi-fi audio streaming, the tier is expected to introduce new playlist creation tools and other enhancements. Despite competitors like #Apple Music and #Amazon Music offering lossless audio at no extra cost, Ek believes a significant portion of Spotify's 246 million subscribers are eager for a superior version of the platform, seeking greater flexibility and advanced music capabilities. #Spotify #Provelopers #HiFi #DanielEk #StreamingService #HighQualityAudio #SubscriptionTier #LosslessAudio #MusicStreaming #AppleMusic #AmazonMusic

Back in the day, when the pro audio world was starting to learn about LUFS and LKFS, it was mostly about broadcast audio and the two important numbers to learn were -23 and -24. Today, almost all and any audio delivery has to meet a certain loudness specification, so there are many more numbers to keep in mind these days. For instance many broadcasters still want -23 or -24, but for music streaming the area is around -14 to -16. But then again, if you deliver in immersive to Apple Music, it's -18, and if you deliver to Spotify, they have one number for regular streaming, another for 'Spotify Loud' and a third for commercial audio... However, you don't need to worry, as we have the two tools you need to comply with just about any delivery platform. First, we have our loudness meters that will show your audio visually and by the numbers. And secondly, we have gathered all of the loudness recommendations and standards that we know of in a single page, where you can check the numbers to aim for, allowing you to keep your focus on the mix and your eyes on the meter, while having peace of mind that you will hit whatever number you need to arrive at. Understanding Loudness Part 6 - Using Loudness Meters For Music And Post Production We are seeing loudness normalisation in more workflows, not just broadcast audio but music streaming services, too. There is a wide range of Loudness meters out there now, and we thought it would be helpful to provide a round-up of the different options that are now available. We know it is not completely exhaustive, but it covers the main players in the loudness meter plug-in sector. https://lnkd.in/e8M75sXP #loudness #audiopost #audioproduction

Brilliant… Music Streaming platforms are brilliant and they’re great at telling us how brilliant they are. Radio publishers are brilliant and they’re great at telling us how brilliant they are. Podcasts are brilliant and they’re great at telling us how brilliant it is. In (mobile) Game audio is brilliant and they’re great at telling us how brilliant it is. But who’s the brilliant-ist? 🤷🏽♂️ No one channel or publisher is any more brilliant than the other. The immutable truth is they’re all brilliant, but limiting yourself to just one publisher or channel is, well er, LIMITING. We all listen to what interests us and sometimes it’s our playlist, sometimes it’s a radio station, sometimes it’s a podcast and sometimes it’s whilst playing a game on our phone. More often than not, it’s a mixture of all of the above during the week. Different things at different times from different publishers. AUDIO is the brilliant-est. audioadpro
