A big shout-out to all the members who prepared and hosted the Women in AI Event! It was one of the most engaging social networking events I’ve ever attended, where I met so many kind people, learned a lot, and took home incredible ideas and inspiration. A huge thank you to Chelsea Squires, M.Sc., P.Geo. for organizing such an amazing event and creating a warm and welcoming networking environment for us new grads! Grateful to have shared this experience with my amazing BAIA cohorts: Winnie C., Bei Jiang, Yanni Chen, Guen Buison

We need new input. Things get super weird otherwise. (I'll share one of my #MidJourney re-prompt nightmares with you if you ask nicely.) We need new input in #AI. Same goes for “innovation,” which can sometimes (often) feel like it's stuck in a #loop. Just go take a look at the billboards along Highway 101... *yaaaaaawn* I've said it before, and I'll say it again, *innovation doesn't happen in isolation.* Last week, at the #llamalounge Amazon Web Services (AWS) event, I watched woman after woman get on stage and pitch their AI startups. Jeremiah Owyang spoke briefly about what a mistake it would be to not have women's voices in tech and AI and that is why he prioritizes them. He's not wrong. And *now* is the time to invest in them. (or maybe yesterday). Tomorrow, I’m excited to attend the Women Tech Meetup at Werqwise in #SF and meet other women leading... just... leading. If any women in my network are going, let me know! #WomenInTech #AI #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #WomenInAI #AWS #LlamaLounge #Werqwise #BugMars Fidelity Private Shares

All these great connections make me feel like summer ☀️☀️☀️ A big thank you again to Olivia Neal Howell, Melody Biringer, Cornish College of the Arts for hosting this fun-day workshop last week during the Women In Tech Regatta. I enjoyed facilitating the panel “Human Connection in the Age of AI” I’ll share more of the top themes in a second post but I wanted to cover the most important part, in my not so humble opinion :)))) The workshop was designed, first and most importantly, for each participant to connect with their peers, share their top of minds, and exchange experiences, and this is intentionally where over half of the time was spent. The emphasis here was on holding space to have the conversation, being present, and exchanging with one another is the activation of human connection that is being prescribed. From one-to-one conversations to society at large. Also, the intent of the workshop was to largely create a "yes, and" culture to solidify the understanding there will be no one perfect answer, tool, or formula. And that we get to and will be designing these solutions together and collectively. In creating this culture, it is critical to recognize one is not right nor wrong, both feelings or perspectives can be mutually true, so by saying "yes, and" , we create reverence amongst the community that everyone's values and input are critical. What matters most is finding the connection first, to then work towards solutions. More to come!

🚀 E for ECHO CHAMBER 🚀 #TheFullPicture 🔎 Situations in which beliefs are amplified or reinforced by communication and repetition within a closed system. 🔎 Echo chambers can often distort our view of reality, as we keep engaging with the same type of questions. 😵💫 And guess what? Big Tech platforms (like Facebook) are designed to profit from humans' confirmation bias ➡️ Check "B" in our #AtoZ series! 💡 via Poynter Institute: When you encounter political, conspiratorial or scientific information, fact-check it before sharing by asking yourself these three questions: 💭 Who is behind the information? 💭 What is the evidence? 💭 What do other sources say? 💡 A tip from WIRED: Like everything to confuse the algorithm so it cannot tailor echo chambers. This can be especially effective for new accounts. 💡 Critical ignoring can also be a good solution. Do not interact with any posts that aim to gain traction through controversy, and the algorithm will be less likely to put them onto your feed, weakening the chances of an echo chamber. #InformationPollution Association for Progressive Communications EU Science, Research and Innovation WOMEN IN TECH ® Global Women In Technology (WIT) Women Techmakers Women Win Queer in Cyber Queer Tech Club
