The home testing and broader decentralized diagnostic landscapes are changing rapidly. Most recently with Cue Health closing its doors as it was faced with challenges in building out its pipeline, finding best market fit, and recently plagued by layoffs and an FDA warning. I can see exciting opportunities with new technologies, delivery models and applications driven by market need, technology evolution and the integration of various system/diagnostic components with greater awareness of testing. 🔍 Self/home testing. I see short-term uptake to continue in non-consumer settings through innovative public health driven program; as evidenced by HIV and COVID self tests usage in the U.S. 💡Traditional and non-traditional CLIA-waived settings are beginning to uptake novel POC diagnostics that enhance care, are easy-to-use, and are viable within reimbursement and economic realities. Diagnostic manufacturers are targeting these settings with diverse technologies, approaches and business models. Multimodal approaches can bring operational and clinical advantages, particularly in resource and HQP constrained settings. 🏠 "Outpatient at home" use cases across chronic disease, health biomarkers and infectious diseases driven by the opportunity to provide greater integrated care. It will likely be mediated by digital and telehealth, and access to reimbursement. Integration with wearables and other approaches is coming. 💡 Consumer-driven home testing markets are in likely in the future where cost, awareness and integration to care will remain hurdles. Many use case options, including 'small instruments' with a variety of tests vs. on-demand disposable tests; I can see opportunities for each. 🔮 Looking ahead, AI, novel multimodal approaches, new sensing methodologies, new sample collection methods, new sensor approaches, and evolving cost structures will drive future disruptions in the self/home and decentralized testing landscape. #diagnostics #hometesting #selftesting [Read more here](https://lnkd.in/eTAXkKZG)

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in India seeks to revolutionize healthcare by digitizing diagnostic labs, addressing challenges in accessibility and resource management. ABDM focuses on enhancing lab efficiency through technologies like Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and automation. The Digital Health Incentive Scheme (DHIS) supports this transition by offering financial incentives. Digital labs benefit patients with faster results, easier access, and improved information accuracy. Despite progress, challenges such as resistance to change and infrastructure limitations must be addressed for the full potential of digitization in Indian labs to be realized. Many thanks to Dr. Raunaq Pradhan and Kritika Walia for sharing this insightful piece. If you also wish to publish your thoughts and opinions about any public health aspects. Please do share on………….
