Once you’ve proven yourself in a market as a buyer who has closed deals, you’re relationship and engagement with the brokerage community changes for the better. No longer are you viewed as a tire kicker, but rather a buyer who may drive something off the lot. As a prospective Multifamily real estate buyer, it’s important to continually make brokers aware of your current buying criteria, so they have a better idea of what you’re interested in pursuing. Most buyers buying criteria will evolve over time. For example, while my first purchase was a 244 unit, C-class 1970s vintage asset, today I’m interested in newer assets that are 1990s or newer, and preferably B-class or better.
