NEWS JUST IN! 📣 We're delighted to have just secured our Living Wage Foundation Accreditation, highlighting our commitment to being a responsible employer and remunerating our team fairly for the amazing work they do. We're one of a handful of North East businesses in the Marketing/Digital sector to be doing this, alongside the likes of Drummond Central and Explain Market Research, so we're in great company. Shout out to Shane Parkins for being the type of business owner who is always trying to ensure that team members thrive rather than just survive, particularly within this challenging economic landscape. Kelly Dunn issues her response to Friday's general election results below: “As one of the area’s leading recruitment businesses and a member of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, we anticipate various elements of the Labour Manifesto and their Make Work Pay Plan that will be helpful to the UK’s workforce, such as reforming the apprenticeship levy to a new flexible growth and skills levy, creating a better industrial strategy and having a genuine living wage for all adults." “Where we are more cautious is Labour’s commitment to changing ‘worker’ status to define if you are employed or self-employed.” “This will affect the whole UK workforce as there are over one million temporary workers on assignment in the UK every day, through recruitment agencies across the NHS, manufacturing and engineering, hospitality, and a number of other sectors which rely heavily on a flexible workforce.” “Not thinking about this thoroughly could be detrimental to the recovery of our economy and future workforce planning." “We have yet to see what Labour means by ‘exploitative’ zero-hour contracts. In my opinion, the new Government needs to understand that flexible working, temporary contracts and zero-hour contracts are not just flexible for the employer, but for the employee, too. Many people have commitments outside of the working day including caring responsibilities, skills training and more and this type of work suits their lifestyle.” “We will be listening carefully to King’s Speech on 17th July, during which the new government will outline their legislative plans for the next Parliament." Navigating the Salary Landscape in North Wales 🌄💼 In the heart of our industrious region, the conversation around fair compensation is as vital as ever. With North Wales' economy showing resilience and growth, it's crucial we discuss the evolving salary trends that impact our workforce. Recent statistics indicate that the average salary in North Wales sits at approximately £25,000 per annum, with variations across industries. For instance, roles within the burgeoning tech sector in the area are commanding higher wages, reflecting the demand for digital skills in today's market. 📈 However, it's not just about the numbers. The cost of living, which has seen a steady increase, plays a pivotal role in shaping the real value of these salaries. Employers and employees alike must consider this when negotiating pay to ensure that what's on paper translates to a sustainable living standard. 🏠💷 As we strive for growth, let's also champion fair compensation that reflects the dedication and talent within our community. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can continue to support a thriving economy in North Wales that benefits all. #NorthWalesEconomy #SalaryTrends #FairCompensation

Last week was Living Wage Week, and we’re proud to be accredited by the Living Wage Foundation Bullhouse East, our taproom is still the only licensed premises in Northern Ireland to be an accredited real Living Wage employer. Our mission is to “use the power of great-tasting beer to bring communities together,” but we know it starts with fair pay for our staff. The Living Wage Foundation is based within Advice NI & is committed to tackling in-work and post-work poverty by promoting the real Living Wage along with broader good employment practices. We stand behind that commitment. In 2024, Northern Ireland had the highest proportion of employees earning below the real Living Wage among the UK’s 12 regions, and continues to have some of the highest numbers of workers struggling to get by. We’ve seen the positive impact of paying the real Living Wage — detailed in our blog post — and we believe it’s a step towards a fairer and more sustainable economy. To read more about it now, check out our blog post over on our website on what our managing director William Mayne has to say on the importance of living wage in the hospitality sector.
