Having a level difference on your slab increases the thickness of tile bedding. At that thickness, tile bedding mortar results in cracking in the tiles above. One cannot go with PCC as it increase the dead load. Reduce dead load and enhance structural efficiency in your construction projects. Consider the advantages of using perlite lightweight concrete as tile bedding, especially in high-rise buildings or commercial/hospital structures where the thickness of tile bedding increases with the increase in the floor span. By adopting perlite lightweight concrete for tile bedding, you not only enhance the structural performance of your buildings but also contribute to sustainable and cost-effective construction practices. You may argue, foam concrete does the same. However, foam concrete has a lot of disadvantages as it shrinks after application which gives you an undulated surface. Also, it is not sustainable and contains Volatile Organic Chemicals.
