When artificial intelligence is developed with intention and focusing on inclusion, we create space for radical change. The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation partnership fuels CLEAR Global's work in advancing a global AI that puts language inclusion first. Including marginalized languages in tech progress should be the norm, so that everyone can participate in the conversations that matter to them. Together, we're building a future where a shared understanding of AI strengthens our human purpose, laying the groundwork for lasting change. Artificial intelligence is having a very real impact on our politics, our workforce and our world. Chatbots and other large language models, text-to-image programs and video generators are changing how we learn, challenging who we trust and intensifying debates over intellectual property and content ownership. With the understanding of both the promise and peril of A.I., philanthropic leaders are taking responsibility to steer this paradigm-shifting technology toward its highest ideals and away from its worst impulses. Just completed the "Navigating AI Through an Intersectional DEI Lens" course by Nika White, and I must say, it was an eye-opening experience! The course provided me with a comprehensive understanding of how AI intersects with diversity, equity, and inclusion. I highly recommend checking it out if you are interested in #artificialintelligenceforbusiness and #diversityequalityandinclusion. "...I didn't understand just how important human networks are. When you're young and you're ambitious, you also think, I can do everything but you can't. There are many inspirational people in the world, but nobody accomplishes what they accomplish on their own." - Jamie Merisotis Will the incorporation of AI impact the human network and how we function in collaborative settings? On a previous episode of In You We Trust, I had a riveting conversation with Jamie Merisotis about this very question. From the existential risks facing humanity to the evolving role of AI and the challenges and opportunities for young people in a technologically mediated world, this conversation touches on essential topics for today's youth. Jamie provided thought-provoking perspectives on the timing of introducing technical skills, the future collaboration between humans and AI, and the significance of collaboration in addressing global challenges. A thing I love abt working Hugging Face is that value pluralism is real and in action: It is OK for us to have different viewpoints, and work together to harmonize them towards shared goals. This is critical for healthy AI development, and why our diverse voices have wide reach. There a common view in the AI world, especially where policy & comms intersect, where people in a company must speak with one voice -- must even believe the same things. This creates alienating/group-think environments where reality, and what matters, is massively distorted. Ultimately, openness/transparency (fundamental at HF) helps to create a healthier ecosystem than most in the AI world, where tons of different good work can be done. Given the backdrop of *AI* everywhere, the nature of the company cultures that give rise to it are critical -- and too often overlooked.

A New Reality that Cannot be Visibly Ignored Recently spoke at the Yuvaa Conclave panel on "AI vs Human Stupidity,". Here’s a quick rundown of what stood out: With digital data being so easily accessible, it’s essential to be smart about the personal information we share. The potential for misuse is real, so caution is key. There’s a clear gap in understanding AI between urban and rural areas. While young people in tier 2 and 3 cities might initially be skeptical, they’re already interacting with AI in everyday apps, like our Josh Talks English-Speaking App. The trick is to make AI knowledge more accessible and less intimidating. For AI to truly benefit society, we need solid policies that ensure ethical use, focusing on bridging gaps in understanding and crafting policies that keep pace with innovation. To make these goals a reality, we need partnerships across sectors—tech companies, policymakers, educators, and community leaders, all working together. By collaborating and harnessing AI’s potential responsibly and inclusively, we can ensure that it serves as a positive force for good. Loved the time spent with my fellow panelist’s Apar G. What if #AI and tech development were informed by the aspirations not just of tech companies but the lived experiences and hopes of our global community of 8 billion people? We know this human-centered future is possible, but possibility requires shared commitment to become reality. In his recent TED Talk, PJMF President Vilas Dhar outlines a human-centered approach to tech development, prioritizing inclusivity, responsible governance, and a fierce sense of moral urgency. I've been closely following Generative AI over the past year, examining both its practical applications and potential impact on economic development. A major concern is the lack of discussion around equitable development of this rapidly expanding technology, both in the short and long term. While there have been conversations about general labor market impacts and some country-level concerns, the dialogue about how AI can both enhance and hinder equitable development across racial and geographic lines has been largely absent, particularly in the U.S. We need to significantly amplify this conversation, or we risk exacerbating economic divisions within the country.

Exciting insights and a thought-provoking panel discussion on the evolving journey of GenAI! 🌐✨ As we reflected on two years since the GenAI hype wave began, our conversation revolved around key areas shaping the future of AI-driven innovation: 💰Value Creation: Focusing on use cases where GenAI delivers resl business values, moving beyond the hype to create measurable outcomes. 🛠️Technological Capabilities: Exploring investments in cutting-edge capabilities like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), fine-tuning large language models, and more. 📈Transformation and Skill Evolution: The changing skill profiles and organizational structures needed to scale AI capabilities across industries. 📖Ethics and Governance: Involve the legal teams early on to address ethical considerations, and robust governance practices in AI initiatives. A big THANK YOU to the moderator Peter Wanda and the panelists (Telina Reil, Johann Fickler , Vicky Ruiye Qian, Dr. Sebastian Wienhold, Nicolas Raffa Pirra) who contributed to these enlightening discussions, and the organizer Musin Mawlood for bringing together such an engaging panel and for creating a platform to discuss these critical topics! #GenerativeAI #Innovation #AIEthics #DigitalTransformation
