Last week I previewed a series of outdoor industry entrepreneurial pitch decks as an advisor for a startup/accelerator collective. I understand I can be a tough critic because I am 1000% in support of building a sustainable business. In my review: - Not a single model mentioned Purpose or Impact. - Showed a commitment to the planet (packaging, sourcing...) - Conveyed a commitment to staff as their greatest asset (DEI, veteran...) Recommendations: 1) Read the room. 2) Research your stakeholders. 3) Reflect on what the business is committed to in ADDITION to revenue. Buyers/consumers are demanding participation from businesses to assist in local and global cultural problems. It's not profit OR. It's profit AND people AND planet AND Purpose.
