💬 The real issue isn’t the behavior of moped – or fatbike – riders, it's the limited space for different types of #micromobility, while cars continue to dominate our streets. 🚲 🛵 Check out my interview with Cursor, where I discuss #fatbikes, spatial conflicts on Dutch bicycle paths and the persistent dominance of cars, based on my PhD research on stereotypes of moped riders, with Frauke Behrendt. 🚲 The Netherlands is known for its extensive network of bike paths, but these are becoming increasingly crowded. The growing diversity of vehicles, including fatbikes and e-bikes, creates new challenges on the busy bicycle paths. 🌟 Researchers Clara Glachant and Frauke Behrendt examined spatial conflicts on Dutch bicycle paths. Their conclusion? We need to shift our focus on the bigger issue of car dominance in our cities. Reducing car use is essential in shaping sustainable, healthy and livable cities. Their research highlights the need to rethink space allocation in a way that prioritizes small, sustainable modes like e-moped, (e-)cargo bikes and (e-)bikes over polluting cars in cities.
