As a rare moment, (here comes a soliloquy) I'll share a career update. After many years and many companies, diligently riding the solar coaster and strategizing where I'd like to be in the industry, I found myself on the "compliance" side of an unregulated business. I started out wanting to throw all my energy behind the clean energy transition and quickly found myself advocating for self-imposed regulations on solar sales teams. As we move closer to mainstream adoption, more bad actors got involved. But there is always a silver lining and the solar industry will teach you to REALLY LOOK for it. I'm extremely proud of the work we did at ADT Solar, props to the team: Melyssa Wilkinson, Dylan Lemke, Matthew Bass - CPM, CSM, and all the rest of the team. I also took my first role in distribution, digging into more compliance and legal needs of solar distributors. Learned a ton, many thanks to the finance team and City Electric Supply legal dept. While navigating tariffs, supply chain, and CBP regulations (um, yay??), I started a conversation with Malcolm Proudfit at Good Energy Solutions. I asked ALL the questions that 10+ years of experience had given me and the answers were...better than good, they were great! Its an interesting place to be back in a regional market, working with a down to earth team, but its also a 'sky's the limit' situation with a ton of great work on the horizon. If you made it this far, I'm impressed 👏 . One of the key things I've learned is that regardless of who's in office, or market dynamics: We won't stop going solar and using cleaner energy. -end soliloquy.

For those of you who don’t already follow Alex Hormozi, read his books, or watch his social media videos, you’re missing out! He consistently shares incredible insights on business that can greatly benefit you and your company. This post resonates deeply with me, especially regarding savings and similar opportunities. Many people dismiss “random annoying calls” as a waste of time. Are they always? Absolutely NOT! I believe every company should have a “cold call department” or an employee dedicated to filtering potential opportunities that could bring unexpected value to your business. Agree or disagree? #Savings #Coldcalls #Opportunity #Realestate

A close friend of mine. Turned $100M in revenue. Into $250M in revenue in less than 2 years. My friend was in the solar business. Making $100M in revenue. His main revenue generation came through his sales team which went door to door and sold solar systems. I asked him why he never considered selling through the phone. He mentioned that he has a great 50 person door-to-door sales team and are doing great. I told him to look into selling through phone funnels. He resisted. Right after that COVID hit and he hat to pivot to selling through the phone and a year later was making $250M. The moral of the story is not "phone is always better than door-to-door sales". The point is, just because things are going well in your business. It does not mean it can't be better and bigger. Always find ways to innovate.

Many people believe that the best sales professionals are those driven by self-interest, focused solely on making money and advancing their careers. While it's true that competitiveness and a strong drive are essential for success, the best sales professionals are those who prioritize providing value to their customers through exceptional service. That is why I love seeing client feedback like what you can read at the end of this post. At Spencer Ogden, we celebrate sales professionals who do what's right for their clients, not just for their own benefit. These individuals don't just make sales—they build lasting careers. Well done, Avery Lagattolla! Spencer Ogden #sustainability #recruitment #renewableenergyreceruitment #customerservice #solar #gridmoderinization.

We came across an insightful post from Alex Harmozi that truly resonated with us. It's a powerful reminder that success in sales isn't about sticking to what works but exploring new avenues to achieve even greater results. In the story, a solar business pivoted from door-to-door sales to phone sales during the pandemic, transforming $100M in revenue to $250M. The lesson here? Always look for ways to innovate and improve, no matter how well things are going.

Bodhi® #2.0 is here! I think most of my Linkedin network knows the story of how Bodhi started. It was 5 years ago, and shortly after my own experience going #solar here in Austin. I had a great sales guy but my post-sales experience lacked transparency. I was always left wondering, “What’s going on with my project?” That’s why at the inception of Bodhi, we set out to improve communication, transparency, and the solar #customerexperience overall. And over the past 5 years we’ve been able to help solar operations teams across the US delight their customers. Still, our partners over the years have frequently come back to us to ask, “Can we use Bodhi to engage our leads in the sales process?” That’s why we’re excited to announce that this is now a reality with the #launch of Bodhi 2.0 Built from the ground up, we’ve packaged 5 years of best practices from solar pros across the US to into a new technology architecture that serve the entire customer journey, from lead to install to repeat customer. You’re able to easily nurture leads through the sales process. You’re able to easily ensure they don't get cold feet after signing the contract. You’re able to easily identify your unhappy customers early and turn them into brand ambassadors. This means higher close rates, fewer cancellations, and more referrals. Thank you to the entire Bodhi team and all the #solarpros that helped make this happen. If you want to see how, DM me for a demo or get started for free at bodhi.solar. #solarsales
