Happy Wear it Purple Day! 💜 🌈 Wear it Purple Day strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for young people in the LGBTIQA+ community. Our Pride Network hosted a Wear it Purple Day afternoon tea for staff, where we were joined by Minus18 Foundation guest speaker Charlie Farmer. Charlie shared their story of growing up in the LGBTIQA+ community as well as the importance of active allyship and practical tips to support our friends, colleagues and clients in the rainbow community. Everyone in our country deserves the right to get the support they need 🌈 LGBTIQ+ communities are some of the most under-resourced in Australia. For every $100 of government funding, LGBTIQ+ organisations receive just 6 cents. Yet government funding is still a primary source of funding for these organisations. By creating grants programs that are tailored to the needs of our community, we can make a real difference for those on the frontline - which is exactly what we, with our good friends GiveOUT Australia, have done through the AWARD WINNING Amplify Pride Fund. We are community, for community. When we work together, we can help the people that need it the most, to get the support they need. Social Accountability discussion based on ACCOUNTABILITY. Join the conversation May 14th via Zoom click here https://lnkd.in/eF9vG6em Excerpts from private conversations: * LGBTQ rights are civil rights taken to an extreme level. Your rights become in question when they begin to infringe or impede on mine * Chaos for profit & stimuli * Abortion * Religion * Gender * Sexual orientation * War * Schools are institutions building social ideologies over furthering universal studies to advance humanity * Decency, courtesy, & morality are being used to misdirected and question freedom, free will, & called intolerance instead of what it is. * An entitled mindset is being sold out of consumerism and being gobbled up by the lazy, ignorant, & arrogant from all social levels. * Socially we have taught our society to take for granted want others have died to secure & call it being woke. * We have surpassed the time of survival and graduated to being entertained like Kings & Queens of the past. There is no accountability just indulgence. * Until you’ve had to fight to be recognized, live, & love how you choose then you will know what it’s like and want other people held accountable. * We’re trying to fix the past that was broken & taken for granted by other generations. This is the age of real accountability * Killing or suppressing natures way of having balance * We need challenges we have advanced to the point we are creating them * Gods plan in is motion & his will, will be done.

The town of Arlington is one of the most welcoming, helping to integrate Afghans, Ukrainians, South Sudanese, Haitians and others. I had a great discussion at the high school recently organized by the town's Human Rights and Rainbow Commissions. Here are a few points to keep in mind when you think of refugees and asylum seekers: 1) The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the increase in immigration recently will add 7 trillion to the economy in the next decade. 2)These newcomers will reduce the federal deficit, help to alleviate labor market pressure, and have likely helped the US to avoid a recession that other countries such as the UK and Japan are experiencing. 3) Another new study from the US Department of Health and Human Services found that over a 15-year period, the positive net fiscal impact of refugees and asylees on state and national economies was nearly 124 billion dollars. Leader Bank Town of Arlington, MA, Arlington Human Rights Commission Jay Tuli Molly Blaauw Gillis
RefugePoint CEO Sasha Chanoff spoke at a local learning event earlier this month focused on forming welcoming communities. About 50 people gathered at the inaugural event, which was hosted by the Arlington Human Rights Commission and the Arlington Rainbow Commission. In his keynote, Chanoff spoke about his own experience in private sponsorship, his work with refugees, and the importance of lasting solutions for refugees. Based out of Spokane and with the support of state funds, Mujeres in Action is kicking off a program students called Jovenes in Action. It's a 3-week leadership program for Spanish-speaking high school students that focuses on consent, healthy boundaries in relationships, how to talk about domestic violence and sexual assault, and how to recognize and safely report signs of abuse. It's great to see how Mujeres in Action continues to find ways to engage with and respond to their community from a Latinx perspective to eradicate family violence. https://loom.ly/0rK-TnI
With state grant funding, Mujeres in Action will teach Spokane's Spanish-speaking youth about domestic violence and sexual assault

I had the privilege of addressing youths in Matero and here are some points as to why Youth Engagement is important. Youth engagement is critically important for several reasons: - Fresh Perspectives and Innovation: Young people bring new ideas, creativity, and fresh perspectives to societal issues and challenges. Their innovative thinking can lead to novel solutions that benefit communities and society as a whole. - Empowerment and Participation: Engaging youth empowers them to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and futures. This fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility towards their communities. - Building Civic Responsibility: Youth engagement helps in cultivating civic responsibility and a sense of duty towards society. When young people are involved in community service, volunteering, and advocacy, they develop a deeper understanding of social issues and the importance of contributing positively to society.

Coming Out Together is about encouraging adults to ‘come out’ as supportive, affirming and safe people in the lives of 2SLGBTQI youth. We call on everyone to do three simple tasks: Pledge, Attend, and Learn. Taking the pledge to #ComeOutTogether as an affirming adult means taking concrete actions to foster safer spaces for 2SLGBTQI youth. Learn how at egale.ca/ComeOutTogether
