Henderson Alliance is proud to be part of this collaborative event with the City of Cockburn for the Defence Supplier Yarn. A big thank you to Waalitj Hub and Novel Management - Defence Consulting for their specialist support in making this event a success. We are also grateful to our event sponsor Babcock Australia & New Zealand, for their support. We acknowledge that many organisations are on their own reconciliation journey, and a key part of that is increasing procurement from First Nations businesses. These businesses offer a broad range of services that can support your work and help you achieve your goals. Here are a few reasons why engaging First Nations businesses matters: - They are up to 30 times more likely to employ other First Nations people, with an average of 2.3 jobs created for every $200,000 loaned to a First Nations business. - For every $1 of revenue, First Nations businesses generate $4.41 in social return. This is significant because: - First Nations employment is a crucial indicator of strong economic development. Improved employment outcomes lead to better health and education outcomes for entire communities. - Thriving First Nations businesses help entire communities to flourish. The Australian Government has officially released the Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS), and we at AIC Connect are in full support of many of the initiatives. With the launch of the DIDS, Australia is setting its sights on becoming a major player in the global Defence export market. Led by Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy, DIDS promises enhanced support and funding, aiming to elevate Australia's Defence industry to new heights. This strategy not only opens up opportunities for Australian SMEs to engage in the Defence sector but also encourages their integration into global supply chains, supporting innovation and competitiveness. The focus on exports is set to create sustainable growth and international partnerships, enhancing Australia's strategic influence and supporting regional sovereignty. Australian businesses, especially SMEs, if you were sitting on the sidelines waiting, now is the time to act. Explore how you can contribute to and benefit from this movement in Australia's Defence industry. There’s never been a better time to innovate, collaborate, and expand your footprint in the Defence sector. #DefenceIndustry #AustralianSMEs #GlobalSupplyChain #DefenceExports

The ADM Congress, held in Canberra on 21 February, evaluated the Australian Defence Force’s future capability requirements with regards to solidifying supply chains, developing and sustaining a high skilled workforce and developing an internationally competitive sovereign Defence industry. A key takeaway from Congress is that Defence is undergoing a massive transition and, if it is to meet its major program commitments, needs to develop a highly skilled workforce and sustain an internationally competitive sovereign defence industry. To develop the workforce and sustain defence industry, Defence and governments at all levels need to: 👉 Build capability which will require growth in people and skills 👉 Collaborate at all levels to increase standards of execution 👉 Partner with and develop supply chains that provides resilience 👉 Embrace technology to foster innovation while ensuring security 👉 Make it easy (beyond just possible) for industry to participate 👉 Provide certainty in the pipeline of opportunity to drive investment As industry leaders reflect on the ADM Congress, it is an opportunity to recognise that the human dimension – the skills, expertise, and collaborative spirit – will shape the trajectory of Defence and its legacy. #Defence #DefenceIndustry #Australia

From May 6 - 9, the Dutch Coalition for Defence took part in the Defence Services Asia 2024 exhibition (DSA). We look back on a very successful exhibition where our participating companies could present their products and services and receive guests at the Netherlands Pavilion and we were even visited by the Malaysian prime minister! This wasn't the only important event at the Pavilion either, as several PIB Participants held signing ceremonies there. Navtrain, for example, signed a MoU with Marine Science Technology Sdn. Bhd. for further cooperation in the field of training. Another PIB participant to hold a signing ceremony was Hull Vane, who signed a licensing agreement with Hayat Lestari Holdings Sdn Bhd. Not only will this collaboration bring Hull Vane more to the attention of several important markets in Malaysia and the surrounding nations, but it also allows them to start producing locally. A major benefit for Hull Vane and a source of job creation for the local community. For more information on this collaboration, as well as the PIB with Malaysia, please click the link below! We would like to thank General Major Ludy Schmidt, Commissioner for military production Jan Christiaan Dicke, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, and the local embassy for their support in organizing our participation. #Malaysia #PIB #Internationalcooperation #Defence #Security #Defenceindustry #Signing https://lnkd.in/e_p5HqXq

It is an absolute pleasure to be part of PMB Defence, which Defence Connect has named "Export Business of the Year" for the second year in a row. From an industry perspective, I understand how challenging exporting can be. Navigating time zones, language barriers, and the complexities of establishing sustainable and maintainable capabilities within foreign nations' sovereign frameworks make defence exports one of the most intricate markets to operate. In the Australian context, I've observed that we often focus on complex commercial frameworks (ASDEFCON) with convoluted risk assessments to justify procurement value for money. This approach aims to satisfy government expectations of a system's deliverables but does little in terms of measuring sovereign capability. The ADF needs to focus on defining sovereign requirements derived from strategic analysis at the start of projects, ensuring the Australian Defence Force is equipped to defend our nation above the commercial mechanisms defined in the current set of commercial documents; this needs to include a greater focus on the role of Australian industry across the duration of the capability.
PMB Defence Pty Ltd attended the Defence Connect Industry Awards in Canberra last night, where we were finalists in three categories; - Small to Medium Enterprise of the Year; - Manufacturer of the Year; and - Export Business of the Year. This was great recognition for the efforts across the business regardless of the result. We delighted to announce that we won the Export Business of the Year Award. This recognition is a testament to our team's hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. This is the second year in a row we have won this particular category. Exporting defence product from Australia is challenging for many reasons, so we can be very proud of what we have achieved to date and with many opportunities still in front of us, confident in the future. PMB Defence congratulates all nominees, finalists and winners in all categories. Together, we continue to strengthen defence capabilities.

It's exciting to see the imminent launch of JOSCAR in Australia. The system's outstanding success in the UK, where it has streamlined the supplier accreditation process and nurtured a flourishing community of 6,000 SMEs and 24 major Defence companies, provides a roadmap for what we can accomplish here in Australia. By implementing JOSCAR, we have the opportunity to diminish barriers to market entry for Defence and SMEs, enabling a more robust sovereign industry supply chain. This will allow SMEs like PappsPM to access opportunities, provide value to more clients across the Defence Industry, and ultimately enable greater focus on delivering for Defence rather than on never-ending compliance and administration needs. If implemented well, JOSCAR has the potential to create headwinds into Defence's strategic priorities now, rather than in 5-10 years when it may be too late. I am hopeful that JOSCAR AUS can replicate the UK's impressive statistics and successes in the Australian market, fostering a more level playing field for SMEs to showcase their capabilities and value to major primes such as #BAESystemsAustralia, #RaytheonAustralia, #BabcockAustralasia, #LockheedMartinAustralia, #BoeingDefenceAustralia, and #SaabAustralia. By embracing the JOSCAR framework, we can drive greater collaboration, innovation, and growth across the Australian Defence industry, ultimately fortifying our nation's Defence capabilities. I urge fellow SMEs and Primes to seize the opportunities that JOSCAR presents and to work together towards a more resilient, agile, and successful Defence sector. Bravo Zulu! #JOSCAR #AustralianDefence #SMEs #Collaboration #Innovation #PappsPM
🚨 Game-Changer for Australian SMEs in the Defence Industry! The news broke today that JOSCAR will be released in June 2024, and we at PappsPM are excited about the potential it holds for SMEs like us. We believe this standardised supply chain system will break down barriers when it comes to engaging with Primes in the Defence Industry, making them more accessible and giving Small and Medium Enterprises the chance to be recognised and considered in their networks and supply chains. PappsPM looks forward to the opportunity to collaborate and partner across the Defence Prime Ecosystem. #JOSCAR #AustralianDefence #DefenceIndustry #SMEs #Collaboration #Innovation #PappsPM #BAESystemsAustralia #RaytheonAustralia #BabcockAustralasia #LockheedMartinAustralia #BoeingDefenceAustralia #SaabAustralia #HelliosAustralia https://lnkd.in/gAcxThmn
