Top 3 Challanges in building a culture of continuous improvement within procurement. The greatest difficulties businesses deal with in creating a culture of continuous improvement in procurement come from a combination of structural, cultural, and human factors. 🔷Resistance to Change|:-Overcoming resistance to change is one of the main obstacles. Employees could be hesitant to adopt new techniques or technology because they feel at ease with the current ones. It's critical to address stakeholders' concerns and educate them about the advantages of continual development. 🔷Silos and Lack of Collaboration: -Procurement departments often operate in silos, with limited collaboration with other functions such as finance, operations, or marketing. To find chances for improvement across the organization, it is critical to break down these silos and promote cross-functional communication. 🔷Inadequate Measurement and Feedback Mechanisms:Without precise measurements and feedback channels, it is difficult to analyze the impact of continuous improvement programs and follow progress over time. Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and executing regular performance assessments and feedback loops are critical for monitoring and evaluating improvement initiatives. ✅Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive approach that includes leadership commitment, employee engagement, process change, technology adoption, and a readiness to learn and adapt. Through proactive measures, companies can foster an environment of continuous improvement that encourages creativity, efficiency, and a competitive edge in procurement processes. 🔉share the challenges you came across! #procurement #strategicprocurement #performancemanagement #leadership #linkedinlearning #challanges #changemanagement #silos #efficiency #improvement #procurementmanagement #cpos #supplychain #scm #veeshwasskulkarni

Yesterday we held our webinar on “Building High Performing Procurement Teams”. One of the slides I presented (see below) highlights some striking findings from our ANZ CPO Insights report: ➡️ Only 40% of organisations have effective programs to develop procurement talent. That means 60% don’t! In a world where procurement is expected to achieve more with less, we have to ask—why is talent development not a priority? ➡️ Just 28% of leaders believe procurement influences strategic organisational decisions. Is this an accurate reflection of reality, or are we underestimating the impact of procurement as a function? ➡️ 49% of respondents feel their procurement teams are under-resourced. Is this a symptom of recruitment and retention challenges—or inefficient processes driving resource demands? These stats spark important questions about how we as a profession evolve to meet rising expectations. What are your thoughts? Which of these stats resonates with you the most? --------------------------------------------- For more insights on the topic of procurement & supply chain, please feel free to connect with me, and also give ArcBlue Asia a follow.

The Road to World-Class Procurement: Developing a Leadership Team with a Winning Mindset As a Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), setting the ambition to build a World Class procurement function is both bold and transformative. But to achieve this vision, your Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) must be fully aligned with this goal and adopt the same mindset. Their success is essential in driving the strategic initiatives required to position procurement as a true business partner. Why a World Class Mindset is Crucial World Class procurement isn’t just about operational efficiency—it’s about creating value at every step. This includes mastering cost efficiency, risk management, innovation, and sustainability. Your PLT needs to embrace a mindset focused on continuous improvement and agility. They must be proactive in leveraging technology, driving collaboration, and engaging with stakeholders across the business. Developing such a mindset within your team requires consistent investment in leadership development, change management, and cross-functional collaboration. It’s about instilling a culture of agility, accountability, and the pursuit of excellence across every member of the team. What Happens if You Succeed? When your PLT adopts a World Class mindset, procurement evolves into a true value driver for the organization. Improved supplier relationships, cost reductions, and risk mitigation become standard outcomes. Procurement will be seen not just as a cost-saving function but as a strategic partner that drives innovation, sustainability, and competitive advantage. The alignment within the leadership team will foster a culture of continuous improvement, allowing procurement to respond quickly to market changes and opportunities. This agility will position your organization ahead of the curve. The Risks of Failure On the other hand, if your PLT fails to embrace this mindset, the consequences can be significant. The procurement function may stagnate, struggling with inefficiencies and missed opportunities. The function could be seen as a bottleneck rather than a strategic enabler, limiting its impact on the business. Resistance to change can also lead to internal silos, hampering collaboration and preventing procurement from realizing its full potential. This lack of alignment can ultimately erode trust within the organization and diminish procurement's role in driving business value. Conclusion As a CPO, striving for a World Class procurement function starts with building a PLT that shares your vision and embraces a growth-oriented mindset. The road to success is challenging, but the rewards are immense—for both your team and the broader business. By developing the right leadership, you’ll ensure that procurement is not only operationally excellent but a key driver of value, innovation, and sustainability. #Procurement #Leadership #CPO #WorldClass #Transformation #ProcurementExcellence #BusinessSuccess
