Providing guidance on registering to vote, utilizing mail-in ballots, and understanding voter rights, including the availability of support at polling places are all skills that can be taught to support individuals in exercising these rights. And having the skills to vote empowers individuals with disabilities to influence policies that affect their lives. For detailed information and resources about voting, check out this blog by my colleague Tabitha Monahan, MA, CAGS, CRC Monahan - https://lnkd.in/ebEXSUms

It is fitting that as we head to the polls in the next few days, we can reflect on the 50th anniversary of women gaining the right to access mortgages, business loans, and credit cards in their own names. It's a reminder of the importance of staying informed and casting our votes. Please don’t let politicians or the media mislead you for their own gain. Make it a priority to seek out reliable sources, be skeptical of outlandish or inflammatory claims, and fact-check the information you consume. I beg you to remember that your actions deeply impact those around you—friends, family, and your community who are women, part of the LGBTQ+ community, or people of color. 🙏 Stay informed, stay engaged, and let’s continue to uplift one another! If you want to make your voice heard but are not sure which politicians align with your values, take just a few minutes to check out these resources: Vote411.org Ballotpedia.org

Disabled voters are a part of every community. Only 17.7 million of the over 38 million eligible voters with #disabilities participated in the 2020 elections. If people with disabilities voted at the same rate as nondisabled voters, there would be about 2.0 million more voters. It is critical that we make voting #accessible and that the #DisabilityCommunity know their rights. I'm not going to pretend that voting is perfect for people across the disability spectrum but we deserve the right to be included and involved in democracy. #Voting #CripTheVote https://lnkd.in/gi7BpqZU
