When I started Villa Bellas two years ago, the vision was simple, to fight misogyny and sexism in football. I didn't foresee just how important the network would be, the connections and relationships people are building with each other and how much the work we do empowers and encourages others.
As volunteers, the work and effort that goes into the role and the skills and knowledge gained often get overlooked because it's not what we 'do for a living'. Except we do, in our free time. We are leaders, collaborators, innovators, networkers, we are building an organisation from its very foundations. That is hard. We're problem solvers, thinkers, planners and strategists. We do it all.
We also have the support of a host of people and organisations and for that we are truly appreciative.
We have members and followers and fellow supporters we serve. We work not just for fans of Aston Villa Football Club, but for our communities we represent on a larger scale.
We're proud of what we have achieved so far and there's so much more to come. We strive to empower and raise the voices of women and non-binary people in football. We want to grow our fanbases of women's football and women and girls as spectators of the men's game. We want to encourage participation of women and girls at grassroots level and ensure everyone feels welcome in the game.
It's not easy, but it's a passion and we do it for future generations so one day, Villa Bellas hopefully doesn't need to exist at all.

You can change yourself so that the people who hurt you don't have the courage to look you in the eye and regret the hurt they caused you.
Don't feel weak. Remember you are not weak. You are a born winner. That is why you are born on top of thousands of sperms. You are a born winner.
There is no question of thinking oneself small. You are the best from your place. Remember that every person is different. The strength of your own two hands is not the same or the fingers of one hand are different! So don't blame yourself for what you can or can't be like.
Always listen to your heart. There will be fewer mistakes and no regrets. If you impose your will power on others, if you leave your well-being in the hands of others, then that will be the biggest mistake you will make in your life. So live for yourself, live your way.
See how beautiful life really is. How smooth is the journey to stand up.

#ar#googlearth#ARcore#Christmas
Last year, a few of us from the office participated in an AR hackathon challenge. The theme was open-ended, and since we joined the chat a bit late, we decided to focus on Christmas (despite it being October). Our team chose to embrace that festive spirit. The primary tool we used was Google’s Geospatial Creator, so we downloaded a few low-poly 3D models. Our first attempt involved pinning them to the street right opposite our office building in Bangalore using Google Earth. We tested it in the Adobe Aero app, only to find that nothing appeared. After a few frustrating attempts, it became clear that we needed to rethink our approach.
We reached out to some colleagues in Pune, but it turned out that Geospatial Creator didn’t work well in India—perhaps we missed something. Then we checked in with a colleague in Alpharetta, Georgia, and to our delight, it worked right outside her apartment parking lot. She sent us a picture of a creepy clown floating mid-air, which was both amusing and encouraging!
After some discussion, the team decided to pin our Christmas-themed AR experience at Town Green Park in Alpharetta. Our main goal was to learn how Geospatial Creator and Adobe Aero could work together. Thus began our journey of sleepless nights. After extensive research and several storyboards, we decided on a musical theme featuring the legendary Ray Charles as the centerpiece. The experience included a memory walk lane, an AR carousel, dancing snowmen, floating fortune cookies, and piles of fluffy snow—all activated when park visitors scanned a QR code placed right at the entrance.
Since learning the platforms was our primary goal, we streamlined our work with various tools. We used Ready Player Me to create Ray Charles's character, downloaded free models from Sketchfab, generated a quick narration voiceover using invideo and designed most of the 2D UI elements in Figma.
The main challenge over the weeks was optimizing the models to ensure the scene loaded smoothly, especially given Adobe Aero's platform limitations. Each day, we connected with our colleague Veda, who diligently visited the park to record the experience and provide us with feedback. After six weeks of hard work, we managed to wrap everything up and submit our project on time.
When we saw other entries, we were floored by the quality of the work—most were created by full-stack artists and Unity developers, while we had relied on low-code to no-code platforms. Still, it was a commendable effort for a team of six who started with no coding knowledge but plenty of curiosity!
Since we weren’t officially representing our office, we named our team Pineapples. And now that Christmas is once again right around the corner, we hope you enjoy the video we’re about to share.
