We know things are a bit rough out there right now for recruiters. Picking up new jobs and clients is starting to feel like a struggle for many. But...if you take the time to think outside the box... this lull period provides an opportune moment to turn things around. Now's the time to maximise your marketing efforts and stay top of mind. → If you know people in your specialist industry are facing redundancies, share your expertise and offer genuine advice and support... Even if you can't help place them right away. → Share your knowledge about the current market situation. Your thoughts on what's coming next. People could really use a dose of optimism! → Position your network strongly for the inevitable upswing. Now is the time to make sure you're staying visible, giving valuable advice, and letting people know about the services you offer. That way, when things start to look up (and they will!), you'll be the first person clients and candidates think of. Make sure you're the one they go to. Filling jobs is like shooting fish in a barrel at the moment. Right? All you need to do is stick an advert out, and you'll have the best in the industry begging you for work. You can take your time to hire because you're spoilt for choice. Didn't get the person you wanted? No dramas. Plenty more fish in the sea. You can keep telling yourself this. Or you can face facts. Unemployment rates in Australia are still at an incredibly low 4% This snapshot of the # of employees at one of Australia's tech unicorns is a better reflection of reality. They're one of those product-centric companies everyone wants to be like. The place most dream of poaching talent from. Commercially, financially and technically very successful. You get a CV for an engineer from here, you make a few assumptions about what they're capable of. What I'm trying to say is, the bar is very high here. And still, they've doubled in size in the last 12 months. The market for the best people is as competitive as it's ever been. Hope is not a strategy. #makeadvertsgreatagain
