𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘅-𝟰𝟬 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆? Corporate governance expert Prof. Dr. Peter Ruhwedel shares key insights from their latest study and recommendations to future-proof supervisory boards in a Handelsblatt article. Digital and sustainable transformation, both strategic priorities, seem to accelerate the diversity of boards: 🔹        𝟰𝟰% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲.  Thereof 56% are female. The Art of not doing everything: How to priorotize among priorities? The clear roles within prioritizing: -management: set goals, big bets (# what is not big bets) -co workers: decide what to do to achieve goals. Need to be close to the one who is executing.

How can companies not just survive but thrive in an era of constant change and disruption? I’ve been reading through the PWC 27th Annual CEO Survey and it’s pretty stark. Globally, 45% of CEOs of businesses over $100M are concerned their business will not be viable in 10 years unless it can adapt. That number is 56% for CEOs of businesses under $100M - the vast majority of businesses. I believe there are two paradigms beginning to have an impact on companies and without addressing them effectively, the chances of survival are remarkably lower. 1️⃣ The Perfect Storm Paradigm The number and scale of challenges faced is increasing, as is the concurrency of these challenges. The Perfect Storm. 2️⃣ The Purpose Performance Paradigm People are re-evaluating their relationships with their workplaces, their communities, even the political system. They are not content with that which is seemingly performing, if it’s not also a net contributor to improving society and the environment. To address these: ➡️𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 and more importantly, ➡️𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, in particular 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀’ 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲. Leaders who create alignment with employees sense of purpose, beyond career advancement will thrive. Compassionate leadership has tangible benefits: CEOs' expressions of empathy correlate with positive stock performance, a study led by the University of Zurich shows. The researchers analyzed data from conference calls between CEOs and financial analysts during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper is published in the journal Academy of Management Discoveries. Making just one additional human care statement was associated with a 2.49 percentage point increase in cumulative returns. Given that the median market value of equity in the sample of companies analyzed in the study was approximately $3.17 billion, this effect resulted in roughly $78.9 million of company financial value preserved in the wake of the crisis.
