Employee: I am resigning and giving my two-week notice. Boss: Why? What happened? Employee: Four months ago you promised me a promotion and it still has not happened. As well, I was offered a significant raise and a better opportunity. Boss: I need you here. We will match your new salary immediately and if you stay will be promoted. Employee: Sorry, it’s too late. It would be best if you had kept your promise. If you did I wouldn’t be leaving. The moral of the story: Keep your promises. Employees remember the commitments you make. Delaying what you promised signals that their hard work is taken for granted. Recognize and reward your team timely. Good talent is hard to replace. While finding the right fit for a role is important, We also have responsibility to every individual we encounter. Even when a candidate doesn’t get the job, offering feedback or guidance can help them on their journey. It’s these small acts that ripple outwards, shaping careers and building confidence. Each candidate has a different tale, full of opportunities, challenges, and aspirations. While selecting the best candidate for a position is crucial, we also offer it to each and every person we come into contact with. Even if they don't get the job, giving them advice or comments might still have an impact on their journey. To me, stewardship is key to HR. Every choice someone makes has the potential to affect their career path. It's about assisting individuals in discovering their place, not just about positions. #hr #position
