As the second official Annual General Meeting of the Cleves Sport Group approaches, we can't help but reflect on the whirlwind journey which has brought us to this point. What started as a simple idea - to get some washed up athletes back together to scratch that competitive itch - has grown into a fully-fledged community. Cleves now spans multiple sports across myriad leagues, but what continues to define us (and unite us) are our core values: Community, Leadership, Energy, Veracity, and Empathy. CLEVE. Undoubtedly, there have been bumps along the way; and undoubtedly there will be several more to come. However, when we look out and see the collection of incredible individuals who now proudly call themselves Cleves, we are more confident than ever that our organization will continue going from strength to strength. We may have gotten the ball rolling, but the idea of Cleves has taken hold, and it is now a self-sustaining enterprise. And we could not be more proud. Thirty Indigenous youth from across Queensland recently had a once in a lifetime experience, bonding with the Australian Kangaroos rugby league team during an unforgettable afternoon of team building. The 30 youth were from PCYCs across Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Deception Bay, Caboolture, Palm Island, Woorabinda, and Rockhampton, selected for their community commitment and strength of character. In collaboration with PCYC Queensland and Queensland Police Service, this event aimed to foster mentorship, build relationships, and inspire future leaders. These young men were selected through their involvement in PCYC’s youth development programs and for their potential as emerging leaders. Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga shared that the players, currently competing in the Pacific Nations tournament, drew just as much inspiration from the young men as the young men did from them. He highlighted, “The players know who they represent – these boys and their communities. It’s a privilege to spend time with impressive young people like this and see what the Kangaroos jersey means to them.” The team building event was not just about sports; it was about building new friendships and connections. The Kangaroos embody Australian values like mateship, and the day truly reflected that spirit. PCYC Queensland CEO Phil Schultz emphasised the impact of such interactions, stating, “They, like all young men, really benefit from having meaningful interactions with positive role models. Spending time with footy legends they’ve only seen before on TV is something they will always remember.” We are deeply grateful to the Kangaroos for their time and the positive influence they imparted on these young people. May 2022, I stood nervously in Dublin Square, ready to release my core team. It was my first Rotaract appearance as the President, and I felt a surge of excitement mixed with a healthy dose of newbie jitters.  But amidst the chaos, a thought flickered across my mind: I want to make a mark here. Call it manifestation, call it ambition, but that day, I planted a seed of desire. So, I took action. I devoured every Rotaract resource I could find. I volunteered with a fervor that surprised even myself. I sought out opportunities to contribute my ideas and skills to the club. 8th July 2023,  That wide-eyed newbie has been entrusted with an incredible honor – my club the Rotaract Club of Lala Lajpatrai College (Rclalas) was awarded the Best Club in the entire district 3141 amongst 140 plus clubs. This journey has taught me two invaluable lessons: * Manifestation is a powerful tool, but it thrives on action. Wishes alone won't propel you forward. Dedication, hard work, and a willingness to learn are the fuel that turns dreams into reality. * Never underestimate the power of initiative. Don't wait for opportunities to come your way.
