Rail shippers, do you have contingency plans in place to account for disruptions in rail service? Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of rail transportation. I was a rail shipper for many years and had a great relationship with the railroads. But stuff happens and that is where Bulk Connection Inc can come into play. We can help you get the dry and liquid bulk trucks that you need to cover for: ✅ Rail delays (transit variability) ✅ Rail strikes (pending Canadian strike in a few weeks) ✅ Derailments ✅ Unplanned and also scheduled maintenance ✅ Campaigns ✅ Inclement weather recovery ✅ other supply chain disruptions www.bulkconnection.com I would welcome a call from you to learn more about how we can help you keep your products flowing during supply chain events and disruptions. what strategies are you Importers and Logistics parties using to minimize the impact on your supply chains with potential strike on East and Gulf Coast still lurking to happen on mid January. Will you let Harold Daggett hold your freight at gun point? If not then how are your companies navigate through this upcoming huddles. Our company has a brilliant idea of shipping through West Coast and IPI for SOCs through other ports. This is a great idea but also can be cost-inefficient for certain importer for the extra cost of SOCs and inland-rails. Give me your two cents. What do you recommend for customers and yourself? #NVOCC #SEAFREIGHT #ILA #STRIKE #FREIGHTFORWARDING #RETAILS

Salvatore Mercogliano, Ph.D. shared some interesting statistics when discussing the port strike this week by pointing out U.S. port efficiency is not high. The Container Port Performance Index rates 405 world ports. The three largest on the US East/Gulf Coasts are: #99 - Port of NY & NJ #327 - Port of Houston #398 - Port of Savannah Reports like this are why so many in logistics, myself included, were questioning why the ILA members should get such a large pay increase without any performance guarantees. You want to fight off automation? Get the ships unloaded/reloaded and get the trucks in and out. It may be my simple-minded opinion... but it really does seem that easy.
