Last year, CCF team members Stacie Lindsey and Melinda Bachini along with colleagues in the field Rachna Shroff, MD, FASCO and Wendy Selig, authored the #whitepaper "Cross-over arms in oncology clinical trials: An important consideration for patients," highlighting a revolutionary approach to designing cancer clinical trials. The paper emphasizes the importance of patient-centric trial designs and introduces the concept of "cross-over" options, opening new doors for patients with limited treatment options. It also encourages sponsors, investigators, and regulators to advance patient-centric trial designs. This initiative is crucial for our CCF community as it represents a significant step forward in #cholangiocarcinoma cancer research and patient care. Imagine the possibilities if we could expand the rate of enrollment in #ClinicalTrials from its current 5%? It’s a prospect that oncologist Mark Lee, PhD, MD, has not only considered but is working to realize by focusing on the community oncology arena. We spoke with Dr. Lee during the most recent #AVBCC Educational Summit & Program about the barriers to clinical trial enrollment in the community oncology setting, and how his company, N-Power Medicine, Inc., is partnering with these practices to provide the infrastructure, technology, and staff they need to become powerful research centers. Do you have thoughts on increasing clinical trial enrollment? Share them with us in the comments below. Hear more on this and other hot topics affecting value-based cancer care at #AVBCC2024, taking place October 16-18 in New York City.
