For four years, until 2021 (after I was busy moving countries, war, and adapting to a new reality and society), I researched the intersection of arts and brand collaborations through CHI Media. During this time, I led a team of writers, publishing articles three times a week. We produced hundreds of pieces, all centered on one topic: Companies Working with Art. These collaborations ranged from marketing strategies to team development initiatives, or as foundations. Living in China during this period offered me a unique perspective on the so-called commercialization of art. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the grandeur of branded art shows by Gucci and Dior, as well as studios developing art concepts for companies like Nike and Adidas. Shopping malls transformed into modern gallery spaces, showcasing some of the best contemporary art collections. Most fascinating, however, was seeing the one brand I believe truly mastered the integration of contemporary art: Gentle Monster. While many brands leaned on predictable strategies, such as creating classic exhibitions or incorporating art IP into clothing designs, Gentle Monster took a completely different approach. They embraced the storytelling, weirdness, and experimental spirit of contemporary art, weaving it into their brand experience. I firmly believe that the potential for art in brand collaborations remains largely untapped. Not every brand needs to emulate Gentle Monster, but there is so much room to explore contemporary art’s richness—its narratives, its daring weirdness, and its experimental edge—in more creative and meaningful ways. #artandbrands #artcolaboration #culturestrategy

Designers debut their innovative creations every year, just as we showcase our personal growth and achievements with every passing year. It's the 49th, and I'm all set to celebrate with mimosas, cake, and some confetti poppers (even if they sometimes get a little out of control). Let's not forget to revel in our milestones with joy and gratitude. It's about cherishing the moments and giving a standing ovation to our unique journey down the runway of life. As I've grown younger, I've learned to embrace more new opportunities, like learning to drive an 18-wheeler or exploring a new career. Remember, age is just a number—our spirit and passions are timeless. So, let's embrace those new opportunities and keep our spirits high. The world is full of possibilities, and it's up to us to seize them. And just as designers collaborate to create masterpieces, I can't stress enough the importance of surrounding ourselves with positive, supportive people. Walking New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is an unforgettable experience! (This is last year’s photo, btw). Participating in a high-profile event brings with it a bunch of fears. Here are 3 lessons that have helped me unleash my inner warrior: 👠embrace the unknown and expected the unexpected Stepping onto a runway at NYFW requires courage and the ability to embrace uncertainty. You won’t always have all the details. You have to go with the flow. Things change all the time. Be present, be positive and be flexible. 👠confidence, confidence, confidence getting rained on? own it! hair falling down? own it! outfits not fitting perfectly? own it! 100 degrees? own it! tired from a long day? own it! walking order changes last second? own it! Your ability to make the best of a situation and exuding confidence is what builds resilience. Conditions will never be perfect. Get it done and own it! 👠 have fun and make contacts Meet new people, exchange social media contacts, and stay in touch! I still keep in touch with models, designers, photographer, videographers I met from my first NYFW a few years ago. It’s fun to see where everyone is now. NYC is fun any time of year, but NYFW brings a different buzz to the city! I sure miss it this season, but so excited and happy for those who are there now! The lessons I’ve learned have been applied to all areas, whether I’m speaking, at a networking event or at a conference. I truly believe there are takeaways from everything you experience. Heritage or Hype? Why ICH Collaborations Aren’t Breaking the Bank Over 100,000 intangible cultural heritage (ICH) projects have been recognized in China, and while they’ve fueled stunning brand collaborations, the commercial returns tell a different story. The hard truth: most partnerships generate buzz, not bucks😂!!! The core issue? 😶 Most of these efforts focus on preserving the past, not innovating for the future. 😶 Scaling labor-intensive ICH crafts to meet mass-market demand without diluting their authenticity is near impossible. 😶 Meanwhile, the niche, high-cost nature of heritage-based products often alienates mainstream consumers. I think, #heritage isn’t just about preserving; it’s about evolving. 💖 Relevance to Modern Life is KEY!!! 💖 Until brands embed ICH into their DNA—merging tradition with utility, affordability, and innovation—these collaborations will remain a beautiful, yet fleeting, marketing tool.

Cultural capital is powerful but risky—missteps, like Dior’s horse-face skirt controversy, can spark backlash and damage trust. 👑 To succeed, brands must deeply understand the heritage they draw from, balancing respect with reinvention.
