Many veterinary medicines must be transported and stored under cold chain conditions all the way from manufacturing to being used in a vet practice, on a farm, or in other animal and livestock applications. Without proper packaging, medicines can quickly degrade in hot weather, rendering them ineffective. A study conducted by BMC Veterinary Research and published by the National Library for Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health, developed these best practices: 1. Before transfer into boxes, drugs should always be thermally preconditioned 2. Increase the filling degree of the boxes with thermally preconditioned water bottles or re-usable thermal packs will increase the heat capacity. Do not deep-freeze the bottles or packs below 0 °C to avoid drug freezing due to contact. 3. Open the lid of the boxes only to uncase drugs that are immediately needed. 4. The bigger the box and the higher the filling degree, the longer the retention time of the transport box. 5. Wherever possible, place the drug box at a cool site inside the vehicle. 6. The monitoring of the inside temperature of the transport boxes is recommended. By the proper use of such transport boxes the recommended temperatures can be maintained over one working day. https://lnkd.in/eCsCTvJg At TSS, we strive to create a healthy balance our animals and our planet. Title: Understanding Paramphistomosis in Cattle: Causes, Signs, and Treatment Strategies Introduction: Paramphistomosis, a parasitic infection caused by trematode parasites of the genus Paramphistomum, presents a significant challenge to cattle health and productivity worldwide. This LinkedIn discussion aims to shed light on the causes, signs, and effective treatment approaches for this pervasive ailment, providing valuable insights for livestock professionals and veterinarians alike. Causes: Paramphistomosis typically occurs when cattle ingest water contaminated with metacercariae, the infective stage of the parasite. Common sources of contamination include stagnant water bodies, irrigated pastures, and areas with high snail populations. Understanding the environmental and management factors that contribute to parasite transmission is crucial for implementing preventive measures. Signs: Early detection of paramphistomosis is essential for prompt intervention. Clinical signs may include reduced appetite, weight loss, diarrhea, and decreased milk production. In severe cases, affected cattle may exhibit abdominal pain, lethargy, and dehydration. Timely recognition of these symptoms can facilitate targeted treatment and prevent further deterioration of herd health. Treatment: Effective treatment of paramphistomosis relies on anthelmintic medications capable of eliminating adult parasites within the host's digestive tract. Additionally, supportive care measures such as fluid therapy and nutritional support may be necessary to aid in recovery and minimize production losses. Collaborating with veterinary professionals to develop tailored treatment protocols based on parasite resistance patterns and individual herd requirements is paramount for achieving successful outcomes. . #Paramphistomosis #CattleHealth #VeterinaryMedicine #LivestockManagement

One of veterinary practice that used to overcome the sever cases of Rumen Acidosis in Camels. Using of stomach tube to evacuate the Rumen and replace with new Rumen juice from healthy camel. Camels generally are very susceptible to accidosis. Nutrition balance between grain and fiber is very important to prevent this nuttitional disease. The Grain/Fiber ratio is 1 : 2. However Fiber percent could be increased according to nutritional requirements or purpose of camel rearing ( breeding/ show/ racing/ other sports ). #camel_nutrition #camel_acidosis #camel_diseases #camula1 #camulavetlab #medhatelshemy

Lipid-soluble compounds called ionophores move ions across lipid cell membranes. Ionophores disturb the ion concentration gradient for sodium, potassium, calcium, and hydrogen ions in microorganisms after ion transport. Antimicrobial actions result from the microorganism's inability to maintain proper metabolism. Ionophores used in veterinary medicine include monensin, lasalocid, salinomycin, narasin, maduramicin, semduramicin, and laidlomycin propionate. Monensin is a the prototypical ionophore antimicrobial and is derived from Streptomyces. The ionophores are approved only as medicated feed additives in the US. Monensin is approved in cattle, chickens, goats, and turkeys. Lasalocid is approved in cattle, sheep, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, and partridges. Salinomycin is approved in chickens and quail. Narasin is approved in swine and chickens. Maduramicin and semduramicin are approved in chickens. Laidlomycin propionate is approved in cattle. In the US, extra-label use of medicated feeds is prohibited in major food-producing animal species (ie, chickens, turkeys, cattle, and swine). #ionophores #cow_nutrition
