Looking forward to this session from my Thales colleague Benjamin Mazet, as my personal belief is eSIM and iSIM are more environmentally friendly than traditional physical SIMs, lower the cost to mobile network operators when onboarding new users or devices and allow equipment vendors and network operators to be more agile.
I am surprised by how slow the adoption of virtual SIMs (vSIM) has been, with even many leading 5G device vendors sticking with the old physical SIMs. Can't see any big reason why anyone would want to continue with physical SIMs when eSIMs are lower cost, more environmentally friendly and can support innovation such as network redundancy for payment terminals or other scenarios we haven't even realised today.
