I really enjoyed this video on cognitive dissonance. I’m always reading something or picking apart a problem in my brain and I was trying to understand why people, mainly some of my employees or coworkers, resist change ( I struggle at times as well). I started looking into it and was amazed at how much data was available and at the root of the problem was Cognitive Dissonance, the battle we have with ourselves to rationalize something wrong into right just because our cognitive biases tell us different. Change is hard and learning to except it leads to growth and new ideas or perspectives that not only change you but change those around you. We didn’t come across these beliefs or biases over night, and we have held on to them for years! Knowing we have them and working on self-awareness can help us except changes more readily and grow and develop new beliefs.
